    Spoilt sport.

But they'll be over soon. Then we'll all forget about them :moon:

I doubt it, I predict for decades to come we'll constantly hear "if we didn't host the Olympics in 2012, we could have afforded a new hospital", "if we didn't host the Olympics then the libraries could stay open", "if we didn't host the Olympics, our troops would be able to have the proper equipment" etc. etc.

In which case we would have forgotten just how successful we've been which was more my point, which I apologise for not making clear.

Its amazing how far we've come. In the past week we've won all of our 22 gold medals. That averages to over 3 a day. Absolutely brilliant. 25 golds and 50 overall would be the icing on the cake.

And to think after that slow start in the first few days, we were all moaning about the lack of medals and I honestly thought that we'd fail to live up to all the hype and expectations, how wrong we all were, its been a struggle to keep up with all the golds, though wouldn't mind seeing one or two glorious more, perhaps with Farah again and Tom Daley

And to callum9999, I really hope that isn't the case, I know for some it will be, but there have been many positives about this Olympics and hopefully those will be remembered as well, its been a great 2 weeks since the opening ceremony, nothing particularly major has gone wrong, so many people have been brought together to support team gb and its been amazing to have this massive event in our country and to have gone to it and experienced the carnival like atmosphere at every event I went to. The moaners won't agree with me, but stuff em, they've got very boring now.

Yeah I'm sure we'll get to 25 golds and 50 overall at least. We're usually flourishing in the middle stages but I wouldn't rule out another late push for gold!

Would like to say that I'm not the patriotic type but the UK punches well above it's weight, considering the population size. If we had the same population as the USA or China, we might actually be in the first position for quite a long time
