Can someone clear up a few things for me?
I know I'm maybe off-topic here, but I was researching how well paid are IT jobs in the UK, and I don't get the whole gross/median/net pay thing. I'm not from the UK

If I got it right, gross is before taxes and NI, and net is what you actually get, but what is median pay?

So what do these figures represent?
I'm going to University of Edinburgh in September and I'm wondering what will I be able to expect in few years.

First of all, that link doesn't work.
Second of all, median pay is a sample of random salaries across the country sorted into order, and then the middle value of the sequence picked out. It's more useful than average if you have a few values on either side of the spectrum where salaries are either way above or below what you would reasonably expect to earn. If you go to a good uni and get good grades, expect to earn around £25k. -
