Will Universities want to see our GCSE certificates?
Long story short, I moved school after GCSE's and never got my certificates so will Universities want to look at them?

    I didn't. I didn't have to show my A-Level certificates either.

Depends on the course as well as I think. I had to have all mine to be checked at interview.

Employers may ask for them, but often once you've gone to university, you're on the system and employers can verify things without needing physical proof. For example, PwC, the world's largest professional services firm, can verify things without asking. If you apply to them with your A2s and don't include the AS that you drop they chase you up and ask you to justify why you never put it in your application etc. pretty shocking how easily they can get information on you.

I don't know about other places but during our induction week (Sheffield Hallam) when we were registering to get our student cards you had to provide evidence of your A Levels and I think I may have had to show them my GCSE certificate for Maths as the course had a requirement for that. E-mail the university and ask them so that when you arrive you will know what to expect.

Contact your old school and find out what happened to your certificates. If they no longer have them, get replacements. Whilst you may get away with not having them now, you may need them later. I've had universities ask for them during registration (MSc level), employers and visa applications. The paper examination slip is only good whilst the certificate is known not to be available. I've known people to miss out on their place because their academic history could not be verified.

It is a pain in the neck getting these things under pressure, as the people that can issue replacements, take their time doing so and will not be hurried. Your emergency is not their problem, so it is best to sort this out now.

I haven't shown my university any certificates, most probably don't ask for them.
