Will running help get rid of this?
Ok, so I have always been skinny, infact when I was younger I hated how thin I was and now I seem to have got myself a bit of a belly.
I have had stomach problems, and after going to the doctor he said it could be down to my IBS but eating regularly can help it as well.
My question is, will running be the best way to help tone my stomach, or are there other ways I can go about it?
Cheers -
Re: Will running help get rid of this?Cleaning up your diet is where you'll make the most progress - calorie controlled, regular meals, more protein rich foods (eg; lean meats, fish, eggs, beans, lentils), more fibre rich foods (eg; vegetables, beans, lentils), more water rich foods (eg; vegetables, soups), less processed food, etc.(Original post by ekudamram)

As for exercise it doesn't matter too much what you do as long as you do something. Finding something you enjoy and being consistent with it is going to do your body more favours than picking something which somebody told you is "more effective" (even when that probably isn't the case) and throwing it all in after a couple of weeks/months. For example, if you enjoy playing football, join a local club and start training 3-4 times a week. -

You need a contraceptive, not running
edit: on a more serious note do situps/crunches, jogging (distance running not sprinting), narrow pullups, and i find climbing keeps me fit too so maybe try that if you have an indoor wall near you? Oh and stop eating so much bloody junk food
. Good luck!

Re: Will running help get rid of this?
My belly was as bad as that, hanging over half my belt lol it's gone now and took 2-3 months (1 stone lost roughly). Follow Choco's advice above. Your nutrition is the main thing. I did weights, cardio and ate 'okay' but didn't count my calories or anything. Doing a sport you enjoy is a really easy way to lose weight. Just be consistent. Don't work hard one day then be lazy another.

Re: Will running help get rid of this?
Went into town today, bought some running shoes and shorts. I went out this evening and ran for what I thought was a good time, I couldn't run consistently, so if I stopped for a bit, I'd walk it or do starjumps or step exercises on a bench etc.
All in all, I was out for 40 minutes, which isn't awesome but I was proud of myself! I have had a bet with my girlfriend that if I dont eat junk food or full fat soft drinks for 1 month, she'll take me to a themepark (3 weeks so far!)
Cheers for your advice guys, I really appreciate it -
Re: Will running help get rid of this?
It's all down to nutrition, I would suggest getting it corrected before even considering exercise.
I suggest using a website to count you daily calories/macros, so that you can monitor your daily intake, it's pretty easy to set up and it will tell you what you should be eating to lose a certain amount of weight in a given time frame.
. Good luck!
