Hi there guys, my first post so please bare with me.

I am currently a student at the the University of Manchester studying BA Economics with Finance. My second year average was not to good (58%) but it was only worth 25% of my degree and i am progressing into my third year and i am certain i can overall average a 2:1 if not a first class honours if i really put my head down.

I am looking for a graduate job in 2013 when i graduate however if i don't successfully get one, i am thinking of doing a masters in finance/economics at a University such as Leicester/Birmingham. I was wondering when i should firstly start applying for graduate jobs and if/when i should start applying for postgraduate courses. Can i do both at the same time and maybe reject a postgraduate offer if i do get a graduate job. and if i was to apply for postgrad courses, what would be the best way to go about it?

I would apply to both and then make a decision based on what offers you get. The best time to start looking is September onwards. Keep an eye on findamasters.com.

hey cheers, do u know what would be ideal universities for a masters in maybe economics and finance, taking fees into account as i dont want to be paying study money. and whats the procedures to apply for a masters? is it ucas?

No UCAS, you apply to individual schools yourself. Some charge application fees (the famous ones do), others don't. I would definitely apply to both jobs and graduate programs in this case.
