I've decided to start running after I saw the triathlon yesterday!
    So,

How many of you saw GB win the triathlon and were inspired? I certainly was! So much so that I randomly went for a 1.4km run this morning. It was my first proper run in 2 years and made me realise how unfit I really am, despite the swimming and climbing! I had to stop after 1.5 laps for around 30 seconds and then carried on to complete 2 laps of the park in total.

Hoping to do this every morning this summer. I have issues with breathing as I have problems breathing through my nose and it gets really runny . Anyone got any tips on how to breathe when running? Do you take short regular breaths or deep slow breaths?

Thanks! Also...share your running stories tips if you have any!

I like varying the runs. One day concentrate on pace and shorter distance, other days on longer distance and endurance. HIIT thrown in is good too. As a newb myself, the biggest mistake is to run too fast too early. Pace yourself and speed up on the last stretch instead. Timing yourself or using a HR monitor helps.

I wouldn't advise you to run every day, make sure you build up slowly or else you'll just get injured.

I was spinning at the gym when it was on, and was so transfixed I span throughout the whole triathlon. It worked out as being a 50 mile spin - can't wait to do it again later. I've been truly inspired!
Also took a little look at some triathlete groups in my area!

Running is my weakest area as I used to be a strong swimmer and lifeguard; I might start picking it up.

When I started, I would breathe in for four steps, breathe out for four steps. I had to focus a lot on my breathing, otherwise I'd get a stitch. If I can feel a stitch coming on, I forget about the running and focus on the breathing instead because I know I'm not doing it right.
Most of the time now though, I don't have to think about breathing properly when running, it just works.

The more people who get into triathlon the better tbh, I've found its quite a nice group to be part of. I did a half ironman earlier this year (and nearly died lol) but usually stick with sprints and olys.
