Are exam papers moderated?
So I requested for my English papers back, and saw that the marks on my exam paper was different to the ones on the breakdown. They were higher, and meant that I could get a 7 (I am 1 mark off a 7). I sent an email to my IBC and she replied saying that the IBO claimed that the exam scores were raw marks and then moderated to give my breakdown scores.
While I know exams can be moderated.. shouldn't it be recorded on the paper? There are columns for examiner 1, 2, 3 but only examiner 1's was filled in! How do I know that the scores were really moderated ?! This was also the case for my world lit

Re: Are exam papers moderated?
Hmm. I'm also interested in the answer to this, as it seems like a bit of an odd situation. I don't think they've been moderated if the marks aren't there... and I'm not sure whether they are supposed to be moderated either to be honest (I vaguely recall the world lits are... But I could be wrong).
Either way the IBO probably won't budge and they'll claim an examiner just forgot to fill it in or something (if you can even get them to answer), and there's no way you can disprove that :/ If they admitted a mistake it'd make the accuracy of the whole grading system seem questionable (which it is imo) and could make them look very bad so... :/ have you tried a remark?Last edited by Saelie; 08-08-2012 at 16:36.
I'm just so pissed that I would've originally gotten that 7 had it not been looked at a 2nd time (if it even was).
