    GRID 2 Announced
GRID 2 was officially announced by Codemasters today.

Details over at IGN about why they've chosen now to make it, what improvements are being made etc.

    Announcement Trailer:

    So, what do people think?

    I'll start some discussion:

The IGN article states that handle is easier than GRID's 'unforgiving' handling. This worries me a little as I thought the handling in GRID was pretty damn easy (in a good sort of way) as it was!

Sick. I'm very happy about this, just hoping that wheel support is better than the original. :yep:

Hopefully it won't go down the same path as the recent DiRT games with shocking menu systems and a boring career mode (not that the original GRID was a whole lot better).

 Career mode? I have vague recollections of that. All about online with Grid. Euro Touring Cars anyone?

On the handling, I think making it a bit more forgiving is a good idea. Whilst some people were good enough to handle high speed cars (90 second lap around Otukama achivement is a good indication of this), often races in the high power cars was more of a "Who drops it the least" competition.

The touring cars however was one of the most competitive online bits of racing I've ever been involved in. Some of the races I had with them (well, in reality in the Lacetti - the BMW was pretty pants tbh) were just phenomenally close. There were loads of racers I knew by gamertag that I had my own little rivalry with that I'd see day in, day out for a long period of time. It doesn't surprise me that I did well over 700 races in touring cars alone on that game!

I'd say to leave the handling alone, Would expect faster cars to be tougher to drive at the limit. Hope they keep Destruction Derby races

Wish I had tried online on the first one a bit more. Might dig it out for a few quick races later

You on 360? If so, add Saphrax 85 and I'll give you a (probably somewhat terrible) race. PC and PS3 servers were shut down a long time ago now.

PS3, I did go online once or twice, but only having 1 or 2 opponents was boring. Can't take the PS3 online here anyway, haven't got enough download allowance

I'm hoping they add more touring cars!

That's gutting. There was always a full lobby (usually several) back in the day on the 360.

Me too! that'd be so freakin' awesome!

I didn't really try it online until after Gran Turismo 5 came out, I think most people were picking cars/tracks they liked and could win with rather than have fun.

Some more real world tracks too.

Ah, see, on 360 you had a choice of Euro Touring Cars (3 race event), Demolition Derby (2 race event) or some form of drift.

I mean, yeah, there were other events and lobbies and whatnot, but those three were by far the most likely to come up.

I'd like some more real world tracks. Considering they make F1 games...

I didn't explore it too much online to find out if that stuff happened, mainly wanted the demolition derby races which didn't seem popular.

The BTCC or WTCC being included would be great!

Tbh, I'd be happy if they looked at the old TOCA series for some more inspiration. Proper licenced seasons with real drivers. They were brilliant games. :yep:

I picked up Toca touring cars for PS1 at a car boot sale at the weekend, £1, awful graphics, fairly bad physics too using the analog sticks!
