Do I have to pay the first installment of rent for my accom in advance ? :
I was looking on the FAQs for the accom ive applied for and it says :

Can I move in without paying my first rent instalment and deposit?
No. You can’t move in until your rent and deposit have cleared. You need to have paid these at least 10 days before your tenancy starts.

The move in date is Sept 15th but my Student Finance doesnt go in until Sept 24th

If it says it then yes you do. This is what the interest free overdraft on a student account is for. Find a bank that will give you at least some of the overdraft (enough to pay deposit and first rent installment) before your loan goes in, sign up with them and then use the overdraft to pay it. Then when you get your loan your overdraft will be repaid.

We had to pay a deposit in advance, which should be returned to us soon. But i think you should ring up/ email as someone else suggested to check about the first rent installment.

I'm in the same position, I've already paid a £250 deposit and have £775 to pay on the 3rd Sept and my loan isn't in until the end of Sept, so the only viable option is to get an overdraft, simple enough.
