Mechanical Engineering at Scottish uni

Mechanical Engineering at Scottish uniI didn't get my conditions for going to Strathclyde this year and it looks like I'm going to end up going to UWS to do Mechanical Engineering. I live 20 minutes away from Glasgow and I have ABBBBC in my highers. Would it be worth it for me to take a year out and apply to one of the uni's in Edinburgh or to just stay home and go with UWS?

Could you maybe do a couple of AHs this year and reapply? Or try and get some work experience?
I would definitely reapply/apply to Edinburgh unis.
