Re: What do you learn in driving lessons?
Hmm... roundabouts, left reverse, parallel park, reverse bay park (you said parking, but I thought I'd put that in), turn in road errmmm clutch control if you haven't done that? Hill starts... hmmm... lane changing (especially when approaching busy roundabouts). I can't think of anything else!

Re: What do you learn in driving lessons?
The weird thing is, I was nervous whilst in lessons and especially when taking my test.
As soon as I got working my own car, on my own, I learned a whole lot more, and felt less stressed after a couple of weeks too.
It's not all about learning the techniques though in your lessons. In the hour or so, you should meet many different situations to test your abilities, and you will get better at determining the best course of action over time.
You can't simply say "right I've learned everything I need for the test, lets book it" -

Reverse round a corner, turn in the road (3 point turn), parallel parking - think these are the main manouvres.. then theres the emergency stop and obviously general driving which includes clutch control, starting and stopping steadily, hill starts, gears and everything you come across on your driving such as one way systems, t junctions, roundabouts etc. Hope this helps.
