    Any help would be appreciated!
I'm new to this so apologies if this is posted in the completely wrong place...

Basically I've just finished my 5th year at high school and got my results which were 4A's at Higher level (I only did 4 subjects). I really wasn't expecting to do so well and so hadn't already applied for uni or whatever beforehand. I hope to go to uni this time next year, but not sure what to do in the mean time.

I'd like to do a psychology course for which the minimum entry requirements is 4 B's and I'm wondering if what I have is enough? I realise that I'm completing with the whole of Scotland and have been told that I need more that just good results to be accepted.

What I'd prefer to do is leave school and work for a year before going to uni just so that I'm able to save some money. I'm wondering if that would be possible or if I'll have to stay on for my 6th year and school and get extra qualifications and whatever else? Basically, is 4 A's really enough to get a uni placement when I'm competing against so many other people? And what is the best thing for me to do?

Like I said, any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm really not sure what to do and have no one else to ask at the moment. Thankyou!

If it makes any difference at all, my Highers were English, Maths, History and French.

Yes, 4 A's is excellent (well done). I think all uni's would accept you unconditionally. Apply for good uni' they will accept you no bother.

Thanks very much! So you don't think I'd have to stay on at school for another year before uni and instead can work?

No, 4 A's is amazing, the likes of Glasgow university (brilliant uni, as you will probably know) accept people unconditionally on the basis of 4A's. I think you will be more than fine this year without going back to school.

Yeah it would be a uni in Scotland, Glasgow or Edinburgh I think.

Then if you write a reasonably good PS you have a good chance of being given unconditionals. You'll have to look into going through UCAS if you're not at school though as you'll need a referee.

I might be worth starting 6th year if you don't have a job lined up, you don't know how long it would take you to find one.

That way, in the meantime, you would get extra qualifications, and get help and support signing up for UCAS and applying etc.

    Just a thought

I think I will just stay for a few months at least for help with the UCAS application like you said anyway, then I'll just see where it goes from there I guess. Thanks for your help
