How likely is it universities will say they've accepted me before results day?
I just read that universities get A-Level results this weekend and that some confirm places before results day. Which universities do this and how likely is it it will happen?

As far as I'm aware they aren't supposed to tell you, so it's unlikely to know before the 16th.

Unis have different application to accommodation systems. Ive personally heard of people know theyve gotten into uni a day or two in advance due to the fact that their application to a hall has become unconditional in that particular system.

I don't think it's that likely, they don't intentionally tell you before results and if they do it's an error on their part.

    True and untrue.

A lot of them will not tell you at all, and will wait a few days after before sending any emails to you, but a few (I can't remember precisely) will send emails of congratulations if you've signed up to receive emails from them at any point. If you search this on google, you'll probably find last year's threads on it, but obviously, there are no guarantees, as they may have changed it since last year.

Not very likely... I only know of 1 girl who was told the day before results day, by Bath Uni, and even then I don't know if that was on purpose or not..

I have firmed University of Liverpool for Electrical and Electronic Engineering; but i am highly doubting that i will get in after how the exams went. I am just wondering does Electrical and Electronic Engineering usually go into clearing for a university like Uni of Liverpool. This will give me an approx idea of whether i still have a chance of being accepted even if i miss my offer by one grade ... Just really nervous ..

Every clearing list will be different - some years it might be, and some it might not be. Although (I could be wrong on this) some engineering places are usually offered in clearing, but they're probably not at universities such as Liverpool. If you miss your offer by just one grade then you may be accepted, it depends how competitive your course it. If you have an insurance, be sure to make sure that they need to release you in order to get into clearing - or it won't be straight away and you may be waiting days until you get your clearing number and therefore miss out on a place.

How about BTECs? Are we likely to receive our confirmation e-mails earlier? Anybody knows?

I know people who have already received their BTEC results and others who haven't so its kind of odd. I guess you just have to be fortunate.

If you are awaiting A level results then the likelihood of getting an email telling you that you have been accepted prior to the 16th August is zero. Track has now frozen and will not relaunch until Thursday morning next week.

The email you (and everyone else) has received from UCAS was poorly written and they will be communicating a clarification to you tomorrow.

Track has now shut down until A level results day so the likelihood of you receiving a confirmation email from UCAS before 16th is also zero.
