Re: Why is British athletics so poor
Did someone say déja vu?
Or, alternatively, why are your threads so poor? You try your hardest but your best is always so much less imaginative than everyone else. The posters who do well have a natural writing style and ask interesting questions, not just rehashed versions of old questions hoping for more neg rep.Last edited by Drewski; 08-08-2012 at 21:25. -
Re: Why is British athletics so poor
Our sprinters always seem to not have the right attitude to succeed and reach their potential. We get quite a few young sprinters who win junior championships, but they never seem to be able to develop into a sub 10 second sprinter.
Dwain Chambers was our best 100m sprinter this season, that really shows how bad we are. Gemili looks like he's the real deal though, he's only 18 and has ran faster than young sprinters such as Blake did, when he was his age. Hopefully he can go sub 10 in a few years, as long as he doesn't go ultra with bodybuilding. -
Re: Why is British athletics so poorAnd we could be 2nd or 1st if we had a couple Usain Bolts!(Original post by tammie123)
Stop complaining. We're 3rd in the medals table for gods sake! -
Re: Why is British athletics so poor
Because, we do not have enough Soviets or Africans. What we need to do is encourage an influx of people from Kazakhstan, Jamaica, and Ethiopia. The only reason we have won any medals in it so far is because of people like Mo Farah and Jessica Ennis, who are from those ethnicities.

Re: Why is British athletics so poorWe're 3rd on the athletics medal table. That is not poor.(Original post by The_Great_One)
They try their hardest but their best is always miles behind everyone else. The peope who do well have natural ability and it's not through the training or they train in another country. -
Re: Why is British athletics so poorYep, Olympic standard with no training. Spot on son.(Original post by The_Great_One)

Re: Why is British athletics so poor
Because in athletics the competition is alot greater compared to the sports where we vulture our medals from. Access is alot easier than say rowing, sailing or even cycling (expensive bikes, all the bits of technology, circuits, coaching). So what you get is alot more top athletes fighting it out for the medals.

Re: Why is British athletics so poorThis. And most of the money the UK invested went into sport disciplines in which GB has always been good at, that is rowing, cycling etc.(Original post by Jack93o)

Re: Why is British athletics so poorActually, I attended a couple of the cycling events, along with the athletics. Did you, on the other hand, actually read my post? At no point did I claim we did not win medals in cycling, but what does that have to do with athletics? Cycling is not a discipline of athletics.(Original post by codfatherh)
No, just no. Did you watch any of the cycling? Thought not...
