Predicted Grade boundaries for the following year 10 exams?
    Hello everyone,

I myself am quite nervous for results day which i believe is on the 23rd of this month (August) 2012.

Re - thinking about the exams I've taken and looking at the past grade boundaries and exams, I would like to discuss what the possible grade boundaries could be for the following exams:

GCSE AQA BUSINESS STUDIES UNIT 1 (22/05/2012), GCSE EDEXCEL ICT UNIT 1 (01/06/2012) , EDEXCEL GEOGRAPHY B UNIT 1 'HIGHER' (14/06/2012), AQA GCSE CHEMISTRY UNIT 1 NEW SPEC (15/06/2012) , AQA GCSE BIOLOGY UNIT 1 NEW SPEC (12/06/2012) AND GCSE PHYSICS UNIT 1 NEW SPEC (20/06/2012)

PS: I have a good idea of what they are but want other people opinions! Please feel free to discuss; also any news or thoughts would also be greatly appreciated!

Please note! All the grade boundaries are predicted by me from doing research into past papers, past grade boundaries and feedback from other student room members! These grade boundaries may not be true and could be inaccurate!

    Hello J48ble,

Your grade boundary predictions for BIOLOGY AND CHEMISTRY are pretty good and quite similar to what I initially thought of!

    However, mine are .....

    A* - 44
    A - 35
    B - 25
    C - 16
    D - 13

    AND
GCSE AQA UNIT 1 BIOLOGY NEW SPEC (12/06/2012)(test out of 60)
    A* - 46
    A - 36
    B - 28
    C - 19
    D - 16
    AND
GCSE PHYSICS UNIT 1 NEW SPEC (20/06/2012)(test out of 60)
    A* - 46
    A - 36
    B - 27

    Hello J48ble,

    However, mine are .....

    Expected Grade Boundary for:
GCSE AQA UNIT 1 CHEMISTRY NEW SPEC (15/06/2012)(test out of 60)
    CAP - 53
    A* - 44
    A - 35
    B - 25
    C - 16
    D - 13
    AND
GCSE AQA UNIT 1 BIOLOGY NEW SPEC (12/06/2012)(test out of 60)
    CAP - 56
    A* - 46
    A - 36
    B - 28
    C - 19
    D - 16
    AND
GCSE PHYSICS UNIT 1 NEW SPEC (20/06/2012)(test out of 60)
    CAP - 56
    A* - 47
    A - 38
    B - 28
    C - 20
    D - 16
I think the Biology Grade Boundary is about the right but the Chemistry is too low and Physics too high,I thought the Chemistry paper was quite easy, compared to last years and an A* was 48 and the physics although it was easier before, the grade boundary previously was 44 for an A*.So I would probably say - 46 for Biology,49 for Chemistry and 46 for Physics.I have calculated the CAP grade boundary, from your grade boundaries so that the bright sparks of TSR aren't left out.

Hey, the grade boundaries for Jan 2012 was 48 A* for chemistry and biology whereas, for physics was 44. I have noticed that AQA normally have 2/3 sciences as the same mark for A*. Therefore, even though these tests were generally harder than Jan 2012, they could lower the boundaries by making the two hardest exams from june 2012 ( which i believe were biology and chemistry) to 44 A* and physics to 48 A*?

Ps: what is CAP grade boundary? 100UMS?

Are these the real grade boundaries? They seem awfully low for the new spec science unit 1 :/

Yep,I couldn't believe how low the grade boundaries were, for the June exams,it mainly shows how harshly marked the exams are because even with these grade boundaries,I only scraped an A*,in Core ScienceBased on the Grade Boundaries and my mark predictions at the times-I would have got 397/400 UMS.
