    What can i expect from a basic mathematical competence test?
    non-calculator for 30 mins.

    what can i expect on the exam?

    i also have an interview to do if i do well. what should i know?

    sorry, i havent had an interview in a long time....

    Hmmm, not if it's non-calculator...

    Menzies is the only company I had a non-calculator maths test for. It was fairly standard stuff, long multiplication, long division, stuff like 'a pint cost £2.50 in year y, if inflation is steady at 2% what will the price be in year y+3'.

    I hated these tests, I kept failing despite having got grade A at A Level Maths!

    Yeah. Obviously the real question was more thought out and didn't include tenths of pence

    am i expecting the same thing as a shl paper?

    Yes and no.

    Yes they will still be time pressured questions where you have to absorb multiple bits of information, decide what's relevant and put an answer.

    No in that those questions are specifically designed for use with a calculator, eg you can't work out how many USD are in 1000 Yen with no direct exchange rate given just off the top of your head, those questions wont be there. It'll be GCSE standard non-calc test.

    also, i hated those questions so much.

    do you think physics type questions will turn up?

    Trig, pythag, a train leaves the station at 9:32 travelling west at 55mph....
