Need some help
Hi,
I'm currently studying my A-levels; A2s in September. I would like to study law at university, but I'm not sure about the caliber of university I will probably be accepted into, due to my current subjects.
I am studying business, law and ICT - with (hopefully) an English literature AS next year.
I need to know what I should do. Should I retake my A-levels, apply for a different course, or just go ahead and apply for law?
My grades have been fine thus far. In the January exams I received an 'A' grade for business, and my ICT coursework has been at an 'A' grade standard, too.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Need some helpThanks a lot. I appreciate the help.(Original post by ~*Kate*~)
I don't really see what's wrong with the A Levels you're taking - ok, history would be more useful than ICT but I don't think it's the end of the world. I would go ahead and apply to where you want to go, and see what happens.

Re: Need some helpI think the first response was slightly too optimistic. The one policy which spans all of the 'top' universities say that they do not care what A levels you have - as long as 2 are 'traditional'. Unfortunately, none of the subjects you are taking to full A level are 'traditional'. English Literature would have been.
Because of this, I think you should contact a few universities and ask if they will consider your application. After all, you may have something else to offer that mitigates the lack of 'traditional' A levels.
My view is that you will have problems at the best of the best. I really hope you are able to prove me wrong! -
Re: Need some helpI take part in Pathways to Law at Bristol University. I've had a lot of law work experience, and Bristol said that they'd strongly consider my application - providing I get good grades.(Original post by Sean9001)

Re: Need some helpFantastic! The access scheme is a definite benefit. But yes, universities will expect better than just an A in your subjects.(Original post by Thomaslp)

Best of luck.
