Help! Course change!
Ok, so I have a firm offer through UCAS Extra for Creative Studies at Bangor, after changing my mind about doing performing arts.My reasons for changing originally were that I love performing and to study it might take the enjoyment out of it. I've now realized that creative studies has exactly the same issue, and it's unrelated to anything I want to do with my future. I want to be a nursery nurse in a hospital, or a play therapist (eventually), so I want to do Families and Children studies at Glyndwr University. Taking a gap year isn't an option for me due to financial reasons. If Glyndwr has any spaces for this in clearing, what is the likelihood of me being accepted even though I originally didn't apply for it? (My A Level results are likely to exceed their requirements and I have some experience).

Re: Help! Course change! Its completely fine to change your course in clearing. They will just want you to explain why you've now changed your mind, why you want to do the course etc and they might ask for a new personal statement. Ensure you're prepared to answer questions on the spot about why you'd like to do the course.(Original post by madders94)

If Glyndwr do have spaces and you meet their entry requirements in full then whether you got a place would depend on the argument you made about your suitability for the course. -
Re: Help! Course change! Thanks for the advice! When I was trying to decide what to do I wrote a few pros and cons about changing and why I wanted to change, sounds like it'll come in handy(Original post by oxymoronic)

Re: Help! Course change!Supposedly they are allowed but realistically how would that work, if you don't want to do the course anymore you're only going to be a burden.(Original post by madders94)
I have another question
sorry. Can I ask my firm to release me on results day and will they or are they allowed to say "no, you have to come to our university"? And also I'll need to wait until I get my results until I can call Glyndwr and ask if they have a place, won't I?
I have quite a satisfying picture in my head of turning up to lectures and throwing a tantrum just to spite the university :P
you could call Glyndwr and get a pre clearing space verbally agreed I think but Im not 100% sure, also there is no harm in giving them a call anyway.
Also if you're sure it's what you want to do and can get the grades, getting released before results day is probably a better idea as Bangor will be busy dealing with Clearing applicants and you'll be their last problem.
thanks
