hey, I have just signed up but have been lurking for a while and thanks to someone's suggestion on here found my application form in my junk mail box about 2 days before the deadline to hand it in - so thanks to whoever that was.

Anyway, I got invited to the assessment centre yesterday too. So excited - I really want this job.

    Your welcome!

Does anyone know the situation with regards to the second day i.e. physical test if one is temporarily incapable of physically completing it?

I have completed several marathons and represented my county in several sports. But currently on crutches whilst recovering from knee operation, so will be fine for March i.e. with reasonable adjustments to the recruitment process, I will be capable of starting job and completing it as well as anyone else, but need 'reasonable adjustments' as per disability legislation...

No idea, jump that hurdle when you come to it. Got day one to worry about first!

Has anyone had a rejection email at all? I haven't heard anything at all since the confirmation of the receipt of my application and I presume that if we haven't had an invite to the assessment centre yet that we won't be getting one. It would be quite nice to be informed that we aren't going any further in the process though...

I'm going to be pissed off if I get rejected, I applied to the scheme on the first day it opened, completed tests and sent application form within days of receiving them, and still no response.

However this news article regarding met police job cuts makes me wonder, how do they afford to hire graduates.

I received an email claiming that I didn't have the required 2.1 degree. This came as quite a surprise, since I'm fairly sure I graduated with a 2.1 in the summer...

I only received an email earlier today saying I had an assessment day so if you haven't had a rejection email then don't lose hope! They are just being slow I imagine.

How can you be 'fairly' sure you graduated with a 2.1, you either did or did not. Does it say upper second class on your certificate? Did you add a scanned copy of your certificate with your application form?

Re: Metropolitan police graduate scheme 2012
im awaiting training to be a special. I think the met are shooting themselves in the foot by recruiting people with degrees in anything. Personally i think it should be related degrees and ips as a special to even be eligible to apply. i know people who have worked extremely hard to be eligible to apply (specials route, no degree) it seems a shame that their hard work is considered inferior to those with degrees. It seems like those of us whove worked hard in the met for nothing are being leap frogged by less experienced candidates and this is a real shame. I have a feeling that our new commisioner will push for degrees in future. ( he has an MA from Oxford). i hope to apply soon through specials route and would do what you guys sre doing if i had the option. It makes me uneasy though. Education doesnt nessacarily produce a solid officer. the best of luck anyway.

    Seriously?

Part of the assessment day will be the role play section which is 4 role plays where we will have 5 mins to prep for each exercise and 5 mins for the exercise. In these role plays we will be playing customer service officers of the Westshire shopping centre.

The written exercises will also be us playing the role of said customer services officer, writing a report to the operations manager.

Thanks. Just looks like I'll have to keep it short and to the point and should be fine.

The role play is the most daunting part of the day. The 1 to 1 interview is surprisingly short.

    Fingers crossed!
