Actually I think he's a pretty good example of where confidence differs from arrogance. Also, disrespectful to other athletes?

    Yup, really disrespectful...

Yeah he's just won 100m AND 200m Gold medals, for his small country.

Over there they probably treat him like a King! Let him play up to it, all those years of training.

    He should enjoy it.

LOL, clearly you've not seen his blatant show of arrogance and disrespect to his fellow competitors at the introduction shot of him in the deagu world championship last year:

    fast forward to 01:37

look the level of disrespect as he turns to either side of him (to other runners) and shakes his head as if to say they have no chance, I'm never seen a more arrogant athlete, that said I still think he's the greatest olympian in history, better than that vulture phelps.
    what wrong with phelps?

Yeah personally I prefer blake, he seems like a more down to earth sort of guy, not a hint of arrogance or showboating from him which I hope stays the same when he inevitably dethrones bolt at the next olympics.
it's always the guys i recognize from the football forum who go on to make posts that are actually insightful and meaningful. thank you for saying something that didn't suck

is that really an argument?? Carl Lewis, Michael Johnson, Asafa Powell: all record breakers and none behaved like bolt
Carl Lewis was horrendous. Know your history.

You clearly haven't met a jamaican. We are confident in our ability when we know we are the best. Some people can't handle his personality hence why some conclude that he is arrogant.
I thought that trait was inherently black Nigerians do it as well as other blacks Africans and Caribbeans I know

(of course not all but most I would say)

Funny that someone I know said Blake comes across arrogant although he may not say much his whole persona came across arrogant to her anyway. I could see where she was coming from.

However after tonight I've seen a more humble side to both Bolt & Blake.

it's the context in which its happening. i don't think its tongue and cheek when 3 odd billion people are watching you.
You are probably right when you say he is arrogant but that comes with the territory. How do you think Muhammed Ali became the greatest in boxing? His results yes but more of his attitude. Ali was ten times as arrogant and used to mock his opponent in the ring! Pele, Maradonna, Zidane, Federer, Tiger Woods are/were just as arrogant in their own ways.

Jesus christ he does get away with murder doesn't he?

I mean I like the guy and all, he's an amazing athlete, greatest olympian in my books, but at least I've not got my dick so far up his arse that I would turn a blind eye and deny a blatant show of disrespect to his fellow competitors.
    agreed

I said this from the beginning.

    He is insufferably arrogant.
you said it all along, you were the FIRST person to say that. You were, and you feel the need to tell us this. Arrogance on your part? Perhaps.

    Swimming is different than sprinting.

You have breastroke, freestyle, backwards, relay, butterfly.... for all the distances.

There's only 100m and 200m. There isn't a backwards or sideways 100/200m sprint. So your comparison was absolutely DUMB.
compare the simple fact that both athletes dominate their sports, and their according behaviours. that's what i'm comparing DUMB.

Indeed, as I wrote those words I was aware of the irony.

But you are correct. I did say it first

Haters gonna hate. He works hard, but he finds it too easy which he blatently does, I'd be arrogant too if I was the fastest man on the planet and I don't even run at full pace in races. You need characters like him, boring people be boring. You want a bunch of andy murrays being emo all the time either not smiling or crying their eyes out after being smashed in a final...

    Thought so.

Xavi is arrogant too. People are arrogant, it makes it fun. Lets all be boring people with no personality to make people laugh. I'm not going to cry because I won a championship, I'd smile at the camera and do something arrogant because I can. Bitter people here.

If he disrespects you, then beat him at his own game and shut him up? If you can't, then just let him do his thing, bloody hell everyone does it in something, I stop playing when I'm beating someone badly in fifa because I can get away with it. Sounds like one of the blake bashers.

He's not arrogant AT ALL. It's just a show to create an aura of invincibility and to intimidate his opponents. He's actually really down to earth and funny if you watch any interviews with him.
