People who put grades in newspapers
What do you guys think of people who get articles about how amazing their results are posted in newspapers? I usually think proud parents and embarassed kid, and thank god my parents aren't like that. But there was an article in the regional paper with a picture of this girl who supposedly had the highest fifth year grades ever in my region. But, not to be a dick, MINE (from last year) WERE HIGHER!!! *cue spiteful petty irrational rage* :O

Is that spiteful, petty and irrational??!!! :L

It's the same with STV news. They make it out as if the student is a nervous wreck beforehand when in reality, they choose someone who is almost guaranteed straight A's. After the student has opened their result it's the usual, "Oh, I can't believe Imran achieved 5 A's in his Highers."

Don't worry. It happened to me last year, too. One guy got AAABC, another girl got AABBD. They got shout-outs in the newspaper. My AAAAA didn't. It happens all the time. It was the Wishaw press, I've been in it a few times and the first time it elucidated a "cool" from me. After that, it took other people to tell me I was in it for me to know.

People are going to read it then forget about it in 5 seconds, pal. Don't sweat it.

hahahha I kinda wish my results had been filmed.
I already knew I was in clearing thanks to two rejection emails from my insurance and calling up my firm.

I opened my results and ran out crying

I don't know whether it's the same for everyone else but our local paper posts all of our A-Level results Even if I've done well I hate that they think they're allowed to just tell everybody my grades without even getting permission. However, I'm really nosy so I like looking to see what everyone else has got :P so not all bad.

I get annoyed when they do those articles focusing on how well certain people did, it's just makes it seem like everyone else's grades aren't worthy of recognition. Also, they make it seem like grades are the most important thing when for all we know, those kids could have been miserable for the past two years, so what do the grades matter then. Or the kids could have had a private tutor all the time which isn't fair 'cause the poorer kids could have done just as well if they could have afforded the same help. They just shouldn't single people out.

It usually seems to be the schools encouraging it. The school near me does it for GCSEs and it's really annoying because they just highlight about 5 people who've done really well (no thanks to the school) and don't mention how half of all the other kids haven't even passed maths and English.
