Italian Hitler wine bottles 'offends' Jewish man
..***** BREAKING WORLD NEWS *****
Wine bottles featuring Adolf Hitler on the label have been called "offensive" after complaints from US tourists in the Italian city of Garda.
"It is very shocking and startling to us," Mr Hirsch told The Daily Telegraph on Wednesday.

However, Communism, which killed 150 million people minimum, does not merit complaint.Last edited by democracyforum; 09-08-2012 at 22:57. -
Re: Italian Hitler wine bottles 'offends' Jewish man
OP you are obsessed with all things race.
As for the wine- yeah I agree that wine bottles with pictures of dictators on them are offensive. Using images of people who've killed millions in order to get publicity/to be funny/to be controversial is not cool.
Unless anyone can think if any other motivation for it? -
Re: Italian Hitler wine bottles 'offends' Jewish manIts a shame that this chap and a minority of others focus on the jews that were very tragically killed in the war rather than jews and the millions and millions of others. Were we to care about auschwitz less than the blitz or some such it wouldnt go down well. This chaps attitude doesnt come across well. Although he mentions the whole of humanity theres nothing about gypsies or other groups that were killed in the same way and its obvious he cares mainly because he's jewish.(Original post by democracyforum)

56,125,262 people killed in a pointless war.

I think this is absolutely atrocious. This man massacred millions of Jews! People should look back at him in disgust. Not plaster his face on wine bottles for publicity!Last edited by green.tea; 10-08-2012 at 09:31. -
Re: Italian Hitler wine bottles 'offends' Jewish man
His offence is completely understandable. Marx and Gramsci were not directly resonsible for any of the deaths you're refering too, so quit the double standards BS.
I'll say this though, in general the sybmols associated with Nazism tend to bring about greater shock and disgust rather than the attitudes themselves, which caused the suffering and death. I think this is dangerous because it gives the opportunity for those same attitudes to be brought back, provided those seeking to bring them back do it in a way which superficially does not resemble Nazis.Last edited by TheHansa; 10-08-2012 at 09:48. -
Re: Italian Hitler wine bottles 'offends' Jewish manThe really offensive one among the featured communists is Guevera, as he's a genuine mass-murderer by his own hands.(Original post by TheHansa)

Regarding the second point, I think it's pretty off base to suggest that Nazi attitudes are in some way considered secondary to their imagery in vileness. What we see a lot of though is a widespread ignorance of actual Nazi ideology and practice which leads to continued, way-off-the-mark Nazi comparisons. -
Re: Italian Hitler wine bottles 'offends' Jewish manHmm, many people feel that Hitler should even be remembered in the slightest. Like all history of Hitler should just be erased from everyone's minds. That guy wasn't even human....(Original post by Tesphena)
Americans do seem to get offended really easily. At the end of the day, its just a picture of Hitler. :/ -
Re: Italian Hitler wine bottles 'offends' Jewish manForgetting doesn't change a thing, just makes it more convenient for those who don't want to feel upset or imagine that people can do such things, it happened. "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it".(Original post by Komatic)

Re: Italian Hitler wine bottles 'offends' Jewish manI'm confused. What's the point of this thread? To discuss the Jewish person being offended by a Hitler bottle, or is it just an excuse for you to take a shot at communism?(Original post by democracyforum)

(Not that I agree with communism; it just seems like an unnecessary shot.) -

Re: Italian Hitler wine bottles 'offends' Jewish manIt's an interesting question... at what point does a tyrant become just another historical figure you can use to sell souvenirs?
Ghenghis Khan, Henry VIII, Julius Caeser etc were not very nice people. They killed a lot of people, yet they are not reviled like Hitler. In 100 years time, when nobody has any direct experience of WW2, will he be so controversial, or just another figure from history? -
Re: Italian Hitler wine bottles 'offends' Jewish manContext, my friend, context. The way the picture was printed made it look like it was celebrating Hitler, not just a random photo of it anywhere.(Original post by Tesphena)

Also - How people constantly manage to generalize a country of over three hundred million based on a select few remains beyond me... That would be like everyone outside of Britain saying that the London Riots just proved how everyone here is a classless thug.
can he just not look at them if he is offended, everyone wants to be offended these days. how about leave the place were they are being sold
