Firstly, don't blame yourself. It's the building that's infested with cockroaches in the first place. So you need to inform your landlord. Make sure there is no exposed food in your room. Keep your room dust free, keep your room water free (they can survive without food but need water regularly to live).

Check your room once a day in case any are hiding, check in dark places and under furniture. Don't let them breed.

why are you asking for advice about third world problems on a civilized forum like this?

why don't you just leave your hut and go visit the tribe shaman or something
Not to mention that they suffer(ed) from rolling blackouts.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm going to have a clean up and spray more Raid in case there's any more. The landlord thinks someone else in the apartment block might have had an exterminator in which has made them flee to other apartments. Hopefully I won't see any more.
