Can you be 'too poor' to eat at University?

Sorry, only just had a chance to look at this thread again.

So it seems to have turned into a discussion about jobs, when all I really wanted to know was about how the maintenance loan is paid...

So from what I've read here (I'd just like to clarify), is that the tution fee loan is paid directly to the university (as I thought) and the maintenance loan is paid to you in 3 installments, to (hopefully) cover the cost of accommodation and food. And yes, I understand that if it doesn't cover it I will obviously need to get a job :smile:

And speaking of jobs, I applied for one last week, had an interview a couple of days ago and was offered a trial in the shop! So all being well, and as long as I don't break anything, I might have a job soon! :biggrin:
