Year 12s: what will be the first way you research your future options? >>

I need a lot of information concerning university

So I just finished my 5th year of Secondary education and I walked away with absolutely no highers just a single Int 2 A. However my school knowing that it was extreme circumstances and are allowing me come back for 6th year to try and leave with some Highers. I am very much focused on going to university to take mechanical engineering, however for a MEng I need 5 courses - 6 courses because it is my second sittings. However, since it's my 6th year I wil only be able to leave with 4 highers. So I was wondering if the universities would take the difficult circumstances into case so it would count as a first sitting, or if it is irrelevant ? However if I lower the intended course to BEng the number of required would be 4. I am also very determined to actually do the MEng so I if started with a BEng, what would I have to do to take the MEng after that ?
