Jesus christ....who said Aidan's was a party college?? That's very much a lie! Their bar can accommodate approximately 30 people for one thing!

Some guy that's going there :p: Maybe they were mis-informed or something, I dunno.

lol gutted for him.

Not that Aidan's is a bad college, I have some good friends who went to Aidan's. I just wouldn't call it a "party college"!

Fair enough :p: I've only ever been to Cuth's so I don't really know the other colleges physically, I just go off what other people have said.

You'll find sociable (and dull) people at every college, though. Some colleges are said to be more reserved (Trevelyan perhaps) than others, but I don't think makes them boring.

Define "social life". Trevelyan have a ceilidh as one of their events for freshers. It would be difficult to define a ceilidh as "reserved" even if it's not an event you would choose to go to.

Does "social life" just mean drinking or does it include all the other activities and societies that colleges have? If the latter, study the
JCR website for each college to see what goes on there.

I'm basing it on a couple of things - what the Grey JCR said (about Trevelyan being a bit unnoticable), and the fact they have over a thousand posts on their TSR thread, and TSR users are less likely to be stumbling home at 2AM from Klute than the average person  The (5 or 6) people I know going to Trevelyan mostly don't drink either.

I'm sure I just know the wrong people though :p:
Have to say, I've also heard about Aidans being a party college, and to be honest looking at their Freshers' events it does seem that way. But if you want a good bar, then Cuths is apparently the best, and Mary's is allegedly the worst. Trevs' is good too, though I'm biased, and haven't actually seen other colleges to compare it to

Oh, and I think most of the Trevs people you know are the type that tend to spend a lot of time online rather than socialising, we're hardly a representative sample
I've heard good things about Cuth's :yep:

Cuth's.

Only other bar in the same league is castle, but the atmosphere isnt as good.

Places like mildert, trevs, ustinov, joe's but have big bars but they dont look very nice and (like all hill colleges) struggle to get a great atmosphere every night.

That's because we heard it off the same person  Someone should break him the bad news.

Ah, by "social life", we are talking about the amount of alcohol drunk then. There are other fun things in life....

The most active social people tend to have a social life involving parties and going out, which tends to involve alcohol, yes.

No one seems to mention Hild Bede too much...why is this?
Anybody know anything about what the social side of Butler's like?

I think Aidan's is partyish more in the way that there's a not inconsiderable amout of lash monkeys here, as opposed to our ability to accommodate a party. Although our proclamation of being a party college is just an extension of college pride more than any substantive reason.

EDIT - Aidan's is the best

WOO party college! :woo:
Just to follow the theme of bigging up your own college to the extent that Durham has 13 'BEST colleges in the world', St.Aidan's is cless  I haven't started yet but out freshers week looks amazing, there's stuff on every night- lots of dressing up, so if you like that GO AIDAN'S! Plus its formal dinners are big events, something to really look foward to, whereas in other colleges they happen every week which might make them not so special.. again, GO AIDAN'S :p: Plus I'll be there- GO ADIAN'S! :o:
lol the myopia has become prenatal.

I object - Trevs has a disco in its bar every after-formal and a proper dancefloor, how many Colleges can say that? Hmph.
