    9/11 explanations
So was just having a chat at work and a colleague suggested to me that in fact the 9/11 attacks may have been orchestrated by the US goverment as an inside job. I had vaguely heard of conspiracy theories but had dismissed them as not having enough evidence. However, with a quick google search it appears that the official explanations of the plane crashing into the building is just not plausible due to the architectural nature of the buildings. What do we think?

I base all my crazy conspiracies on a 'quick google search' too.

Really? You know that for a fact do you? I'm assuming you're an expert on architecture then... oh wait, you're not? Well then how do you know that? Oh right, because the website said...

I could probably link you to 5 websites that refute that, written in an equally convincing and scientific style. Don't believe everything you read on the internet. Even psuedoscience and crackpot conspiracy theories can seem convincing when they're written in such a manner.

Well yes I realise that, I'm not stupid. Though I cited that website as I thought what it was saying sounded plausible, as an example to the possible other side of the story. There are possible motives from the US government and from religious extremists, so I was curious to know what everyone else thought.

Well, I for one think that 9/11 conspiracy theories are a crock of BS. A 'quick google search' is no way to form a qualified opinion on the matter.

The people who say that the petroleum doesn't burn hot enough to melt the steel frame of the building may be correct about that, but they're forgetting that a jet crashing into a building causes this to be obsolete. The kinetic energy of the jet is definitely enough to melt steel.

I believe that the conspiracy that Bin Laden was made a scapegoat for 9/11 has some (shaky) ground to it, the 'confession' video seems to use a fake Bin Laden and it doesn't make sense for him to confess and then deny it a couple of months later. However to claim it was the US government that caused 9/11 makes no sense, yes it helped George Bush convince America to go to war, but I honestly don't believe Bush would do it, even if he wanted to how could he convince people to go along with it?

    All I know is:

Two planes hit the two buildings
    Thousands of people died
Whatever the ****ing cause it SHOULD not have happened

End of story, R.I.P to firefighters/Police and all the people who died.

You are the best argument that I have ever heard suggesting the theory of natural selection is in fact wrong. People can't possibly be this stupid, can they? Miles better than any crappy religious argument!

    Use your bloody brain!!!

Why not the police? You are pretty lucky in western countries with such a good helpful police force, go to other areas of the world e.g. Pakistan, India, then you will praise yours.
Down there they beat the crap out of you, hear they call you Sir/Madam when they talk lol...

Theres a lot of things to point to a conspiracy, such as the apparent gold storage under one of the towers being emptied (idk if there was even gold storage mind) in the days leading up. However, whilst ive always felt Bush was a bit of a plonker, I just cant see him doing that to his own country.

All I know is that 3 thousand people died that day and to suggest that the whole thing was orchestrated by the powers that be is disgusting to their memories. Not to mention hurtful to those they left behind.

the building 7 idea is a load of ****- if two massive buildings collapse on top of a smaller one, do you not think that will cause it to collapse as well?

i wonder if building 7 even existed- it doesnt make sense, you have building one building two, miss out 3 4 5 and6 and call it building 7???

Do some research before you have the nerve to even quote me.
Two massive buildings did not touch building 7 upon their collapse. Idiot.

'research'??? oh you mean crappy youtube conspiracy videos.
yeh i used to know a guy who was into them and believed them, and guess what? he got diagnosed with psychosis- maybe you should do some 'research' on that, one of the symptoms is deluded beliefs, especially believing conspiracy theories......

im not the idiot who believes everything on the internet

Lol wow. I do think some of these conspiracy theories are a bit strange and go abit too far. But guess what? Then there are actual facts that you seem to be slightly confused about. Maybe I am underestimating your level of intelligence and common sense. It is a true fact that WTC Building 7 collapsed. And if you had bothered to do some actual research before opening your mouth, you would know that both of the Twin Towers did not physically touch WTC Building 7 upon their collapse, debris yes but not anything physically spectacular to cause a building to collapse. - FACT. Hence, questions being asked about why the behaviour of its collapse was very similar to that of a planned demolition. - Speculation

But then again, it does require a level of intelligence to actually question what is portrayed in the media, because the news is 100% accurate right?

Learn the difference between a positive and normative statement.

WTC7 was hit by debris which started fires.
