I just passed my driving test!

After four times of taking it, I finally conquered my nerves and only got 4 minors!

    So happy.

I was told by my instructor that they say it could take up to 4 weeks, but in reality it is more like 10 days.

I need it for next weekend too, going to a festival! Not likely I will have it for then though so will have to fish out my passport!

    Thanks, congrats to you too!

Yes, I was so nervous! When I was doing turn in the road my leg was shaking so badly that I stalled and had to stop to gather myself! It was really busy on the roads as well which didn't help!

I got a turn in the road too! Haha xD I was so glad I didn't get a reverse round a corner or a parallel park, I'm useless at those. I made a load of mistakes I hadn't made in ages, I guess I just panicked on the day.

I passed yesterday with one minor. For those wondering; you don't have to wait for the license to arrive (the certificate you get counts as a temporary license). But what really sucks is that you have to stop driving until you get full (non-provisional) insurance. How many days did you have to wait after passing your test before you could go out on your own?

    Congrats on passing

I passed yesterday too, no minors I already had a car so just rang up my insurance and changed over the details so I had a full license. They were really good actually and it didn't cost me too much to change at all.

My car is currently at home and I'm at uni though so I haven't been out in it yet. Quite nervous to imagine the first time I drive on my own...my car is very different from my instructors. The biting point is so low it feels like the clutch is still on the floor on my car so I'll probs stall it a few times getting used to it again.

    It can be a minor.

I think it depends on how you react when you stall [eg, if you handle it safely, swiftly and do not put anyone else in danger as a direct result of it then it will probably be a minor]. I stalled on my test. I tried to pull away in third gear from the side of the road. But, I obviously stalled before I got anywhere and there was no traffic around me, so I was able to do my checks, put it right and pull away safely.

As with so many things on the test, I think it is important just to keep going. Never expect something to be a major - just carry on trying your best and try not to let a mistake haunt you. They say you are more likely to go on to make a real major mistake if you are distracted by something that was actually only a minor earlier in the test. Positive thinking ftw.

I passed my test yesterday. First time, five minors

Tell you what, yesterday was an adventure. As I've been learning in my own car, I had one to drive straight away after passing. My dad had his work's leaving party and he wanted me to pick him up. So my first ever drive alone was me going on a motorway to Milton Keynes at 11pm.
Then it got even better once I ended up at the Ikea in Bletchley and realised I was meant to be in the centre of Milton Keynes.
Made me realise I need a satnav. Badly :B

I would not like to be a new driver in MK, everything looks the same! Good luck to you!

My family have been in Northampton for six years now, and we still get lost getting to the shopping centre.

You're telling me, aha! I live in Cambridge so don't generally go to MK as it is anyway, but everything was just the same. When I finally got a bit that looked a bit different, turned out I was in Bletchley. When I made it to the centre of Milton Keynes, I had no idea where the bar was and had to go up and down the same street at about 5mph trying to find it.
    Never again
