Well...I just finished AS chemistry and I think nomenclature will be extremely useful for both unit 1 and 2 because expect to name a lot of organic compounds. Also, from GCSEs recall vol/1000 x concentration=no. of moles equation because, again, you will be using it quite a lot. Anyways, goodluck : )

If you're taking AS Chemistry then I'm assuming you're comfortable with what you studied during GCSE Chemistry and achieved a reasonable grade. For this reason, I wouldn't purchase any bridging material (such as that in the above post) but would rather just go straight into learning AS content.

If you let me know which exam board you'll be with for Chemistry then I'll be able to recommend textbooks and other materials.

starting chem to, ocr exam board. Just buy the actual AS student book and go through the first 1-5 units of module 1. There's even a youtube channel which explains the early concepts you need to understand well. Pm me if you want the link or any other questions.

I was comfortable with GCSE Chemistry, and I got an A* at GCSE, yet the bridging book still helped because you haven't done chemistry all summer, and so it gets rid of the rustiness.

I've been in the position you were in and so have many other people (including the person that posted just before you) and the bridging material just isn't necessary. Especially, if you're having to pay for it. It is much better to begin AS content.

And you can down-vote me as much as you like, as you'll probably consider it a silly thing to have done when you read my response to your thread in which I'm offering to help you.

If you're with AQA then I would recommend the Nelson Thornes: AQA AS Chemistry textbook.

The following websites might be useful to you as well (in order of usefulness):

I thought this revision guide was top of the pile for AS. Very easy to read.
