Does my Chinese Alevel counts as a subject?

Hello guys! If my first language is chinese, does the chinese Alevel count as a subject (for applying to uni)? Plus, if I did my English GCSEs and got 2 As for it, do I still have to take IELTS?

Thank you guys!!
I can't see why not - it's probably a very valuable one too!

Some do apparently, I know someone who supposedly missed their offer for PPE at York on A-level results day (getting AAB when the offer was AAA), but then realised he got in because a mother-tongue language A-level he done a while ago (which he got an A) was counted by York. Personally I think its unfair though, but thats life.

Basically it depends, you need to contact with the uni you're interested in to get an accurate answer.

Thank you!
Top universities say they don't count critical thinking, general studies and native languages as a level..

As it's your mother tongue, I don't think it will be at a top institute, so contact the universities in question

It's worth less if it's your mother tongue (I think I remember someone saying something about it being worth half the usual amount of UMS but don't count on that) but it will still count so some degree

No... It's unfair because English A Levels aren't about, translating and speaking about world issues in c/w...

Where as other language a levels are

Off-topic question..

is A-level chinese hard? my reading/writing sucks :frown: but i want to take it.. but get a good grade?
It depends on the uni, you should ask them, or it might be on their website somewhere.

Obviously it's a lot easier for you as a-level mandarin is aimed at people who've only spoken it for a few years, not all their life. They do expect you to ace it though.

if not, I guess it's because Alevel Chinese barely does any good in your uni study... Don't you receive specific conditions for subjects?
well, its really easy for me cuz its my first language, i dont have chinese classes and can easily get a A*on it.
