Not sure why you're butt hurt about it. They hold many open days during the year.

I doubt it's even essential to book. If you turn up they're not going to turn you away

I doubt it matters, just turn up
Just go anyway, they don't have sign in sheets or anything. I went to a few open days last year and at no point did I have to confirm that I'd booked in advance. No one asks, no one cares.

imo don't book any open days, they're almost always. You learn nothing new other than getting a feel for the place, they seem to spend most of their time answering questions from muppets who clearly haven't even looked at their course page.

It's much better to just go on a random day when the university is 'at ease' as supposed to pretending to be all amazing. Not so many people, and you can see what it's really like. For all the stupid questions like (I quote from the Cambridge open day) "Will doing Maths A-level help me if I want to specialise in Physics within NatSci?", they can all be asked on here

Just turn up. They only ask people to 'book' so they have a vague idea of how many attend. They aren't going to turn you away. I should know...

They will accommodate you. These open days are mostly run on the ground by current students; they are not going to piss their faculty off by turning prospective students away.

P.S. If there's one thing I've learned about Bristol, it's that the admin is shocking. Just bypass them.

gatecrash in :colone:
Ok thanks everyone, i'm just going to go then haha! If not i'll have to enter.. by force
Having been to a Bristol open day (albeit 4? years ago), there wasn't really any benifit to booking it. I think there was a place to sign in and get a badge and stuff, but I have to say I didn't bother.

I disagree about open days being pointless. They are relatively pointless for finding out about the course- that's why most unis hold "applicant" days in around february time which give you more information specific to your course. The purpose of the open day is to get a general "feel" for the uni and the city, because really do you want to spend 3 years of your life somewhere you dislike on sight? Also, bear in mind that open days may be your best chance to view halls and have a wander around the city.
I never booked on open days! You can just turn up and grab a programme off someone to see where you need to be. I think the open day registrations are just an idea of numbers, etc. It allows the university to have access to their email-addresses and stuff for future marketing purposes.
Just turn up, I doubt they will turn you away. As long as you register you'll get a timetable of talks/campus tours for the day.
