    University vs. University College
    Recently been looking at universities and stumbled across UCP Marjon University College in Plymouth. I've been told due to it being partnered with a college it is;
    -not worth the money
    -not the same as a university
    -not the same standard?

    I think that is a load of rubbish, is it any different? It offers the course after all..

    At the end of the day, if it gives you a BA/BSc/BEng/BEd or whatever degree you're doing, who cares?

    It will be small, be full of students doing p/time or foundation degrees, not have very high academic standards and you may spend three years being jealous of students who are going to a 'real' University.

    Go to the Open Days at one 'University College' and one 'Large University'. Then tell me where you think its worth going,

    I'm going to Marjon and was told that it's a university by everything but name. The only reason it's not just University is because of the amount of students. Take a look around the uni and at the course before striking off anything.

    I went down in July after I made my firm and insurance choices (firm was plymouth and insurance was brighton) I failed to get into both but I remembered Marjon was really good and luckily got in on the first day of clearing

    I live in plymouth and i know loads of people who have walked away from marjon really disappointed because the uni is poorly organised and unsupportive - you should extensively research into whether it is really worth spending your money there because although obviously i dont know enough about it to be able to really give an opinion i have heard enough about it to make me doubt its credentials.

    went to an open day there last October and was very impressed with the institution, having been to colleges and 6th forms it felt nothing like either. A small campus yes, but a good size shop, nice canteen, village halls near by, it seemed a bit out of the way but apart from that i left with a good feeling. Unfortunately they axed the joint honours course i was going to do so i will not be attending there, that is the only reason though.
