Aerospace Engineering

Hi guys,
I wanted to ask that are aerospace, aircraft and aeronautical engineering all the same courses, and if they're not I just wanted know how are they different.

Another thing that was bugging me is that does anyone know which universities does year zeros or foundation years in this field.

I would be very grateful if anybody could help me.
Thanks in advance
hello, im looking to do a foundation year in this sort of this too!

Aerospace is objects/vehicles that operate outside of the Earth's atmosphere ( i think )
Aeronautical is stuff inside the Earth's atmosphere

I've been look at these:

http://www.brighton.ac.uk/courses/study/mechanical-engineering-with-integrated-foundation-year-beng-hons - Brighton!

http://www.brunel.ac.uk/courses/undergraduate/H100 - Brunel!

http://www.sussex.ac.uk/study/ug/2013/3892/26021#tabs-3 - Sussex!

http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/ugstudy/courses/foundationcourses/engineering.aspx - Nottingham

I think that Mechanical is kind of a more general overlook on Aerospace and nautical, but im not entirely sure, hopefully you'll be able to find some stuff from those links:smile:

All 3 courses are virtually identical the only difference is the modules studied, I'm going to be applying for mechanical engineering but foundation year because I'm not sure whether I should do aeronautical/aerospace or civil. Mechanical will give me he option to decide because you can go in any field and there is high demand for mechanical engineers especially companies like airbus or rolls Royce. I'm applying to Nottingham, Manchester,Sheffield,Loughborough and I haven't decided te 5th one

Thanks for the reply guys, but i was wondering why not do a foundation in aerospace/aeronautical engineering rather than doing a foundation year in mechanical engineering

I'd say a foundation year in mech eng is more worthwhile than one in aerospace anyway (if it even exists). We don't even study aero specific modules until third year and since mech eng is such a big part of aerospace, it makes sense to get a good grounding in it before you start.
