Year 12s: what will be the first way you research your future options? >>

Really don't know what to do... HELP?!

Basically when I started A levels I didn't have a clue what I wanted to do and took it all for granted. To cut a long story short I did bad and the college made me do BTEC's in biology and chemistry. After completing this course and during the summer I finally decided that I wanted to do mechanical engineering. However, the problem I have is that even though I now know exactly what I want to do and I'm willing to work hard for it none of the colleges will accept me and let me do A levels I need.

So really I'm stuck and was just wondering what my other options were? I don't know what else I can do or what routes I can take. My college were pretty useless and told me to just forget about engineering and try a different career path.

Sorry foor the long post I'm just completely at a loss as to what I can do, I really want to do this but I feel like I have no chance?
