    2013 uni entry ucas help?
I have just started my second year of college.
At AS, I got BBD (D was because WJEC lost our papers so had to go on a grade lower than our January exam, which is stupid)
This year I'm taking up another AS, to boost ucas points. I am predicted ABC and a B in the AS. I don't know whether to resit the D. If I do, how would I show this on the ucas form and how do they know the predicted grades?

The course I want to do wants 280 ucas points, is it safer to have 350 ish?
    120 - A
    100 - B
    80 - C
    50 - AS B

Also possible 40 points for a lamda acting exam. Shall I put that in the form too?

Out of interest what subject was this WJEC paper in? I got a grade lower in my Spanish paper too than in January and mine was WJEC, I've asked for a photocopy but it's the only one which hasn't come back

Drama. I heard about Spanish papers being lost too. They're obviously not a great exam board!

What!?!? Oh dear, I think I'll have to go to my college exams office and find out what's going on!! There were people in my class that still got As though, did that happen in your case? Also, rather than resitting it you could just drop it and ask your tutor put in your reference that the exam got lost - it wasn't your fault

I requested a WJEC paper back on results day and it took over 3 weeks! Apparently they have until the 10th September to turnaround requests for photocopied scripts which is frankly ridiculous.

I can't ask for mine back as they have no idea where it is.
Do you think it's worth resitting? Or just try and get a C overall at A2?

Totally agree, I need to have mine remarked and the deadline in my college is 18th September

Holson: If you have enough ums to achieve a C next year you could try but it would be more difficult than if you resat the paper, have you asked your college to launch an enquiry? You never know what might come out of it

Haha I forgot my name was Holson on here. Yeah my drama teacher contacted them etc, but they're 'not looking' for the papers anymore. All I get is a free resit, which is added pressure on top of the 4 subjects this year

That's a real shame, imagine how funny it would be though if someone went to the press on them though, that would be SO EMBARRASING for them! It's annoying all these mistakes go covered up

I've emailed them. Hopefully they'll suggest something, or agree to give me an A. ;D

Is it ok to contact them directly (WJEC)? I was told by my college I'm not aloud to do that but it might be different for you

I wasn't told anything, so I just went on their website and clicked 'contact us' or whatever. I don't see why you couldn't? Got me worried now..

The college will send your predicted grades to your chosen uni. If you resit, you would have to fill in the subject twice (second one saying ' pending' if result is not known). At least thats what the career center helped me to do. As for you're points if they want 260 points its pretty safe to aim 280-300 incase of any slip ups. Usually the uni will give an minimum offer if 'AS' grades aren't really good. Hope ive helped

You really should go to the press with that, with all the pressure they're under right now the last thing they want it a story like that. They should at least agree to match your January result or predicted grade...

I'm afraid I'd get sued or my grade taken away or something... Out of curiosity though, how would one go about doing that?

Thankfully this isn't China (yet), I'm sure you'd be fine In general, you could drop an email asking if they'd be interested, or even go through social media: for instance, Guardian Students was doing research for a story on Twitter and asking followers if it had applied to them a few days back, they'd be fairly open to it I reckon. https://twitter.com/gdnstudents
