My AS level choices suck, how can I improve them?
I've picked the following, I recently posted about having no idea what to do but here are my courses atm

    Music Tech
    Photography
    English Lit
    ICT

3/4 of them are crappy to take I know. I get it. But what can I do? I hate maths, I'm ok at science but you need maths to do science and I have bought stuff for photography. That wont be changing.

I know the best uni degrees are in engeineering. If I changed ict to computing would I have any change or would I need maths etc as well?

Just take up maths, I got a B at GCSE and picked it up at a level and got an A. trust me, Maths allows you to do so many things.

use this, youtube.com/maths247 trust me this is the best way to learn maths. i was able to self teach further maths with this and this only, and Get an A in Maths.

    Drop Music and take Maths.

Matsh ICT and Enlglish are a good set of A2 levels

You dont need maths for all sciences, maybe physics but not chemistry or biology.

Whatever you do, make sure that you do it now. Don't wait a month, or six. Don't wait until AS level result's day, when you find that you have hated the subjects so much that you have done badly in them and need to re-sit the entire year. It's great that you recognise the need to change now, I've seen too many people realise when it's too late.

I took music tech and it was one of the worst decisions I've ever made. My advice, drop it now

why dont you take something like history or sociology instead of music? they dont require maths and may give you more future options

I think you need to stick to 1 career you want to pursue and check what subjects are needed and build up on that. Trust me I'm speaking from experience! So I suggest you do it now!!

I don't know what career path! Is ancient history a good A level?

They’re not particularly strong but I learned that it is important to take subjects you enjoy and since you don’t seem to enjoy them; change them now! Would be my advice in favour of more traditional subjects if you wish, originally I took History, English and Literature, Religious Studies (I love philosophy and Ethics so it was the right choice for me) and psychology, I hated psychology so I dropped it one of the best things I ever did.

stick to core subjects like history as its recognisable for alot of degrees such as african history, history of art etc.
Also if you do decide to change your career path you'll have a wider range of degrees related to history to choose from

I personally think you should choose a carrer path you'd enjoy, check the a-level subjects required and do the best you can because alevels are for 2 years only whereas your career is forever. It'd also make you work that one step harder

No its not that I don't really enjoy them its just I know they are worthless

Swap History for photography and change to Music instead of Music Tech. Much more traditional. Also ICT isn't well regarded so you can change to Biology which is considered the easiest science and has no maths. However, if you don't feel you can cope its ok to stick to ICT as an AS level, since your other choices will be better.

You need A-Levels in both maths and physics to do an engineering degree.

History is a very good A-Level.

Does Ancient History have as much merit?
