Advice on 4th AS need to pick for tommorow!!!
Basically I have picked History Business Studies and French. My Question is what else can I do as a 4th AS which I will drop at A2. I am hopefully going down the Business related route at university I am okay at maths to be fair Grade B at GCSE However, I have heard how hard it is and I dont want to risk going to a good university over something like a grade D in A level maths

    maths
it's a good 'respectable' subject, and even with you wanting to do business at uni, business studies is not always looked upon in a very good light
however it would be fine with 3 other strong subjects
plus if you ever struggled with maths you could go to your teachers for extra tuition or even get a tutor?
not biased at all as maths is my favourite subject

I think that Economics would be a good option.

You don't wanna pick something that's gonna take up all your time if you're gonna drop it like maths would, maybe something more enjoyable? A good grade in a less 'respected' subject is better than a lower grade at the end of the day.

I guess the key is what you want to study at Uni? If you give us a rough idea, some of us may have a choice that will look good.

Economics is actually a well respected A-Level but universities don't like Business studies that much because it is considered a soft subject. I would choose Economics over Business studies.

I think that Maths is a good subject to consider but you would find it hard since you got a B for GCSE and would have to work very hard.

&French is a difficult subject, do you enjoy it?

I don't want to scare you or anything but I got an A for GCSE and then a U for A-Level LOL. But since you enjoy it and willing to work hard, you should take it. I think the most important thing about choosing your A-Levels is picking subjects that you enjoy and what you're strong at.

These are the blacklisted subjects that universities don't like:

    Accounting
    Art and Design
    Business Studies
    Communication Studies
    Dance
    Design and Technology
    Drama/Theatre Studies
    Film Studies
    Health and Social Care
    Home Economics
    Information and Communication Technology
    Leisure Studies
    Media Studies
    Music Technology
    Performance Studies
    Performing Arts
    Photography
    Physical Education
    Sports Studies
    Travel and Tourism

I'm guessing that you like essay-based subjects, other A-Levels to consider are English, Geography, Psychology, Philosophy, Religious Studies and Sociology.
