    Self study Business Studies AS...
Hi, so basically i'm currently entering year 13 at my school and am taking maths, further maths, chemistry and computing onto A2. Last year I got A's in computing & chemistry, and oh-so-close B's in maths and physics, as well as 87 in FP1. I plan on retaking chem2 which I was just below an A in, as well as C1 (79).

I am looking at getting A*AA(A/B) so am looking at oxford, warwick, soton etc for computer science.

My question is, would it be a good idea to self-study business studies AS? The school year has already started so I need to decide fairly quickly.

I'm not a very wordy guy (got B's in English lang & lit at GCSE) but I wouldn't be taking it for the qualification, but for the knowledge I would gain which I think may be useful in the future.

I plan on getting the teacher to email me the topic they covered in the AS lessons after each one and then I can have a look over it myself online when I have the time.

The reason I don't want to study it in school is because, well frankly I love having a lot more frees and I tend to use them productively to do work or go over my lesson notes (and get to go home early!)

    Any thoughts?

I think you'd be better off spending the time working on your other subjects, particularly Maths.

I'm not sure how useful a Business Studies AS level would prove to you in several years time, particularly as what you've learnt will probably be out of date. If you do find at that point you want to know more about the subject, you can then read some up-to-date books.
