can i get ABB uni offers with A*BD predictions?
Hi everyone, Im looking to study Economics at university i just would like some opinions about my choices and whether you guys think it would be suitable for ABB unis?
Im wondering if my current predicted grades will get me offers from ABB unis

    Im currently predicted
    A* In economics
    B in Physics
    D in Maths

A*BD is equiv to ABC i believe?

    I got fair GCSE grades , 6A/A* + 4 Bs

I have a fairly strong personal statement ,e.g i read books and did work experience in a trading firm

I didnt do too well in my Maths AS and the school are refusing to predict me a higher grade, however i did my maths GCSE early and got an A*

Are my grades strong enough for ABB universities for economics such as Royal Holloway , Kent , UEA , Essex , Sussex, Could i even get into an AAB university such as surrey?

    Thanks

I think ABB Uni's are realistic.

Go for one or two unis that require AAB.

But, can you actually achieve AAB-ABB? Do you think you'll be able to improve your maths to a B?

    Good luck

A* B D is equivalent to ABC in points so I would think maybe AAB unis would really be pushing it but if you took retakes you never know

Yes i believe i can achieve a B in maths , i didnt do too well in my C2 module which dragged my overall grade down :/
so 2 AAB , 2 ABB and one BBB perhaps ?

    Hi

    I suppose that's fine.
    A safer route:

    1 AAB
    2 ABB
    2 BBB

    What universities have you considered?

ABB is easily achievable for you! I'd say go for 1/2 AAB, 2/3 ABB and 1 BBB.
The only thing which could hold you back from AAB unis is your maths grade... if you think you can improve it to a B then great, you have nothing to worry about, just bear in mind that C3 and C4 are SO much harder than C1 and C2
    good luckkk!!!

not too sure about my BBB option yet :P

What is everyone smoking? You can get an offer 1 grade higher with a bit of luck, 2 with more luck but 3? I doubt it. Will your school absolutely not predict you anything higher even with retakes?

    I'm also applying to Essex

I think you have pretty good choices, but definitely replace one ABB with a BBB/BBC uni.

Still, persuade your school to predict you at least a B in maths, could go pear shaped with A*BD.

What were your AS grades like? And did you do a fourth AS subject because I know some of the unis you mentioned accept two AS-Levels in lieu of 1 ALevel.

You're 3 off AAB. Admissions don't equate A*BD with ABC and the like (unless they offer in points) so that's the wrong way to look at it. The way you should is you met the A with an A*, you're one away from another A with a B and you're 2 away from the B with a D. By all means give it a shot, but I think you should be prepared for the possiblity of a gap year.
If you're quick in Clearing you can get a top 20 place though since you think you can get a B in Maths. If Clearing next year is anything like this year you shouldn't worry too much.

Edit: my bad, I meant AAB. Fixed.

Re: can i get ABB uni offers with A*BD predictions?
I got a D in the first year doing maths, then come out with an A after taking AS maths again. I recommend doing this, like i'll assume you're dropping a subject correct? So retake AS maths in replacement for that subject. Speak to your college about it, turn up at lessons and WORK (unlike me in the first year) and you'll be fine.

Regardless, you could easily get the offers if you get your predicted grades changed.

Re: can i get ABB uni offers with A*BD predictions?
I got ADD at AS managed to get ABC predictions and got ABB/BBB/ABCoffers from 4/5 unis( royal holloway, Lancaster, Liverpool and Loughborough) met my offer(ABB) and starting royal holloway in a few weeks! So anything is possible but I did spend a lot of time calling up universities and asking what the likelihood is they would consider my grades! Some said a flat out no and others said they would and they did so call/try and apply

LOL because you read books you have a strong personal statement?
To be honest you're pushing for an ABB never mind an AAB.
