How have the recessions affected you?
For me, I am fearing for everything I have, my online business has gone down the sink because there has been such a significant decline in demand. And I am really struggling to get a graduate level job even with quite good academics (Law from a Russell Group Uni, in third year).
What do you see in the future? Do you think life will be very hard for most of us? Or will things pick up? It is terrible seeing people with first class respected degrees from Russell Group unis (and similar) with no job, some even have significant work experience so it's all very ominous. -
Re: How have the recessions affected you?
That's the good thing with practising law. When the economy is healthy, there are lots of commercial disputes, companies wanting to start up seeking legal advice etc. When there is a recession, there are bankruptcy cases, bigger commercial disputes, repossessions etc. So, all in all, the recession won't affect my future career... It's nearly impossible to get a pupillage no matter what the economy is like!

Re: How have the recessions affected you?
It has actually been pretty positive for me, business is a boomin and have just had to hire an extra part time worker to help me keep up with the workload. Honestly considering expanding after my degree because although software development is something I've always wanted to do as a career, financially i would probably be a lot worse off.

Re: How have the recessions affected you?
My standard of living has dropped, I can afford fewer fruit and veg.
I can't eat out/go out anywhere near as much as I could.
The wages for jobs I do/apply for have remained stagnant.
It's not all bad I'd still be working a dead end job instead of being a student if there was no recession. -
Re: How have the recessions affected you?
Hmm...I have to say not at all, I managed to get something on the day of my A Level results and my family are managing fine. I know a lot of people who are struggling though with debts primarily. We have had to cut the shopping down to once a month though, less random buys and more budgeting, simple things like that, nothing too bad though.
