Lower right abdominal pain and navel - not appendicitis
Last night I spent 6 hours at the A&E waiting to be seen for an excruciatingly painful lower right abdominal/navel problem. It took a year and several doctors, last year, to discover I had very bad constipation... which eventually got worse as it took so long to find out.

Now, I'm still very constipated. I've had an ovarian cyst before (a year ago) but on the left side, last few days I've almost fainted twice, nausea feeling and a chunk of sick sitting in my throat - but no vomiting, mainly gagging. The pain started on my lower right abdomen with it being very sharp and severe, constant too. It hurts when I cough, sneeze or laugh. Pain has now traveled towards my navel region and the same thing occurs.

Hospital: Took blood tests, ran a BP check, urine tests which were all fine. They told me to take painkillers, go back to my GP and get a referral for ultrasound scans.

Does anyone have ANY idea of what this could be? - I can't keep having to wait, like last time before it gets worse.

Not sure what they tested your blood for but perhaps PCOS? Do you have regular periods?

They needed to check my blood in case of disease or something similar - according to the doctor.

And yes, I have regular periods. I'm not sexually active, etc.

I don't really know if its anything more severe but it could be due to a lazy ileocecal valve in your intestines which is quite common. It's only on the lower right side of your body and its where the small and big intestine meet, and it prevents back flow of your half digested food. The valve can get stuck or lazy which means that its not moving the food through that area properly and there becomes a build up which causes pain. The food should be going up the right hand side of your body, so its fighting gravity! It then goes around underneath the ribcage and down the left hand side. So you can alleviate the pain by lying on your back and massaging your tummy following this direction paying particular attention to the bottom right corner. You can dig your fingers in and hold, and when you find the right place after a few seconds your stomach will start gurgling, which is a sign that you've started the valve working. Don't know if this is it, but just a suggestion because it sounds horrible!
    Thank you for your reply!

I'm not sure if that could be the problem, because the sharp pain regions are quite touch-sensitive too. I have problems trying to lay on my sides and my front - it starts to get sharper even further if I do. But yeah, I'll try out what you advised. Thank you.

No worries! I did a tummy massage for one of my friends who complained during the whole thing that it was very sore and we had to stop several times, but then once its all loosened the pain reduces. And she's asked me to do it regularly since because she thinks it helps, and they haven't been sore after the first one! You never know

    Sounds like you're constipated. genuinely.

Blood tests will have been inflammatory markers, FBC, maybe amylase or other acute abdomen markers. The fact that they were all normal further reinforces the likelihood of you being badly constipated.

Ahhh, that makes sense - I'll get my GP to look into it I guess, again.

Pounding heartbeat-like pressure pulsating on the lower right of my abdomen for 5 seconds - it stops and then starts on the left side for about the same time and then stops.

Have you tried any constipation relief tablets yet?

I've tried Laxido, Senna (natural tablets), Liquid Laxatives, Suppositories, etc. -- Not really getting a good outcome. Also, I used to use the toilet once a week, and it's reduced down to once every three days which is a slight improvement (within a year).
