This is my plan too. Along with Game of Thrones, The Wire, Arrested Development and The Walking Dead. Got lots to get through!

Breaking Bad is probably my favourite TV show of all time.
I love all those shows! Apart from The Wire as I haven't seen it yet, but I've downloaded all the episodes and will watch them this summer. Arrested Development I finished re watching yesterday.
You should watch The League, Curb your enthusiasm and It's always Sunny in Philadelphia. Along with arrested development I love these comedies.

I've only seen 3 episodes of The Wire so far. They're each one hour long so you have to be in the mood for it. That said, the more you watch the better they get.

Curb Your Enthusiasm has always seemed funny from bits I've seen on More4 every so often, so I'll definitely try that out. I'll check out The League and IASIP, thanks for the recommendations!

I love Breaking Bad. Best programme I've ever watched. Everything about it is brilliant, and Vince Gilligan is a genius!
Anyone who thinks Mad Men is better deserves to be shot in the head

Cannot wait for this July and I shall rewatch it all after exams!
Mad Men has absolutely stepped up to the plate in the last season. It's was excellent throughout the first four seasons but not as good as Breaking Bad. This seasons first 8 episodes though have to be just about the hottest streak of quality drama i've ever seen. Reaching a similar level in quality as Breaking bad but sustaining it for longer. The season hasn't finished yet, so the jury is out on the season overall.

Usually I find that people's main criticism of Mad Men is that it's boring. Just like 'The Wire', for instance, it requires that you invest a certain amount of time into the story as it unfolds. The pay off is worth it though. To be into the fifth season of a show that has moved steadily from good through to excellent and is peaking right now, at the end of the 1960's, is really exciting.

Mad Men and Breaking Bad are entirely different beasts and can't really be compared side by side, IMO, but if I had to choose one over the other I would pick Breaking Bad every single time. I think that it would be a real, real shame if Mad Men wins the Best Drama Emmy (again ) over Breaking Bad series 4, considering how phenomenal that was!

Has anyone here seen The Sopranos? I'm considering starting on that once my deadlines are over with.

I started re-watching The Sopranos recently.

It almost seems dated now, in season one anyway, but it's still brilliant and it basically paved the way for a whole bunch of the best dramas ever made.

    .
It wont. But I predict Mad Men will win it again the following year. And deservedly so if they can wrap up S5 well.

Believe it or not, my friend got through about 4 episodes of Season 4 and said it was too boring to continue watching. I thought he was being sarcastic at first.

most shows probably seem a bit rubbish if you start watching 3/4 of the way through. Why didn't he start at Series 1?

Oh no, he watched all of it up to that point too, but he still found it boring. No idea why, I was on the edge of my seat for most of S04.

I see what you mean, but with all the stuff that's happened with Breaking Bad it just seems a lot better to me. It's been very consistent, with each season topping the last season, despite it seeming impossible! Breaking Bad a journey of change, of seeing Walter White go from a steady scared man to the badass Heisenberg, and then becoming weak again, before doing what had to be done (killing Gus), despite going against everything he stood for, such as being a non-rough stuff type meth businessman(such as risking that boys life to kill Gus). The acting has been crazy as well from nearly all the actors, and with this show you just can't see what will happen next. Talking about Breaking Bad is getting me all excited again!

I haven't watched much of it, just mid way through season 2, and it is seriously good.

Looking forward to the new season, Mad Men has finished so perfect timing. Wonder if I have enough time to start Game of Thrones before then...

Has anyone seen this video yet? Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul endorse a student for student council...
