Why is it on the universities stalking pages you always see ridiculous grades like A*A*A*A*A* as A-level predictions and you never ever see B B B or CCC isnt that strange! And in the average UMS you see people putting 70%-90% . Is this why people get intimidated on TSR that they will never make it into university after seeing such grades.

I'd say it's a mix of people lying and upping their grades for internet aproval, and people genuinely getting those grade, yet still seeking aproval. Either way I pity them! People have every right to be proud of their grades but posts like 'oh what uni can I get into with 4 A*'s?' If you can't work that out how on earth did you manage 4 A*'s?

(not bitter before anyone says so my own grades were enough to get me into a russel group uni)

It upsets me that they get these grades, I wish I had them. You see it so often that it gets me worried about getting into uni, it seems so common on here so I just expect everyone who is going uni has them grades so the unis wont want me

I'd say there are various causes. Those with the best grades are more likely to be on TSR, the higher grades people have the more likely they are to post them, people are predicted higher grades than may be reasonable, those on TSR may be more knowledgeable about how to push for higher predicted grades, TSR may push people to achieve higher grades, and of course, people may lie.
I can't say I've ever bothered putting grades in my profile, because who cares? But if people want to do so, it's no skin off my back.

If your sample is those who publish there grades on here I don't doubt that many will receive those predictions.

no people aren't lying, why would people lie about something so stupid on the internet. people don't lie with the whole academic spoiler thing (which is very self indulgent btw)... maybe if someone directly asked "what grades did you get", especially in the middle of a classic TSR argument, people will lie... but that's it.

people who didn't achieve top grades will simply omit their grades and some people who achieved highly will show off about them. also, this is a website dedicated to studying... go figure.

Not really - people do get those grades, I know a few.

It doesn't make other grades worthless at all! Anyone who says it does is stuck up and arrogant. However, getting angry at the people who have worked hard and done very well (as opposed to worked hard and done well, not saying other people don't work hard) is pointless and doesn't encourage children to be academically ambitious.

what evidence do you have to support that people with that "whole academic spoiler thing" don't lie...Im not saying everyone lie's but whats odd is you never see anything like BBB or CCB or BBC etc in the stalking pages for A-level predictions or grades or whatever. Yes TSR is an educational site but that doesn't mean people here will be 100% true if that makes any sense

Well when it's five A* and above General Studies is normally involved if it brings any solace to you

TSR is a website for studying, with contributors one being big studiers themselves. It's only natural that the "grade demographic" is skewed towards those with the best grades.
