And where do the Lib Dems suppose that the money will come from for these ideas? -

Re: TSR MHoC General Election September 2012Feel like asking some questions so thought I'd start with you...(Original post by Addzter)
QFA
Firstly, I'd like to say you misunderstand the word "free". You propose to make all university education free, but all you are doing is subsidizing it with someone else's money. There's no such thing as a free lunch after all.
So answer me this: How can you justify asking people like cleaners, teachers and office workers to pay for the degrees of bankers, doctors and lawyers? How can you ask the working classes to subsidize the doctorates of middle class professionals?
Education is ever so important, but higher education is a tool which grants a many number of people a great economic advantage - isn't it fair that they give back to society by paying for it themselves rather than asking those who do not benefit from it to pick up the bill? -
Re: TSR MHoC General Election September 2012Yes, members will campaign on either side however the majority will likely vote to leave.(Original post by ukip72)
Tories: Would you campaign on either side in your proposed EU referendum?
The government submitted more material with an equal number of seats.(Original post by TopHat)
We achieved the majority of our manifesto and submitted more material than any other party. Meanwhile, your record is ah, rather worse, to put it lightly.
Three sitting MP's and likely a similar proportion of the wider membership.(Original post by internetguru)
I can only think of about two members of their party that oppose leaving the EU so it will be very one sided. -
Re: TSR MHoC General Election September 2012OK thanks, A very impressive manifesto btw.(Original post by Rakas21)
Yes, members will campaign on either side however the majority will likely vote to leave. -
Re: TSR MHoC General Election September 2012The Government is two parties, though, and has the advantage of being able to co-operate via the government forum. This can often boost activity compared to a single-party, hence why I only included single parties.(Original post by Rakas21)

Re: TSR MHoC General Election September 2012We have agreed within the party that all members will be free to support whatever side of the campaign they want. This worked very well for us in the monarchy referendum, and we're sure it will again. In that one, half of us supported keeping the monarchy (such as myself) and the other half support getting rid of it. The side I was on won.(Original post by ukip72)
Tories: Would you campaign on either side in your proposed EU referendum?
With Europe, there are some pro-EU members in our party, but then other members who are staunchly anti-EU - like myself. I quite like this set up as it means a whole range of interests are taken into consideration, and really it allows us to conduct the referendum in a way entirely free of bias. I shall however be supporting the OUT campaign once the referendum is put to the people.
That's what is important for all of us, whilst some are pro-EU, they still believe the people deserve a choice over something so integral to the political nature of this country. -
Re: TSR MHoC General Election September 2012Ok let's continue on this track then (no pun intended) for a while. What wasteful spending would you like to see curbed?(Original post by Morgsie)
A progressive fairer tax system and reducing unnecessary wasteful spending -
Re: TSR MHoC General Election September 2012Middle management in the NHS for example(Original post by toronto353)
Ok let's continue on this track then (no pun intended) for a while. What wasteful spending would you like to see curbed? -
Re: TSR MHoC General Election September 2012What are those reforms then? You see I always find it rather baffling when europhiles state the above. It's so woolly, so vague and doesn't say much. Would reforms involve us handing over any more powers and while we are here, why should the EU have any powers when all powers should belong solely in the hands of sovereign states?(Original post by Morgsie)
In Favour of Continued Membership with reforms -
Re: TSR MHoC General Election September 2012And other areas of wasteful spending? List some.(Original post by Morgsie)
Middle management in the NHS for example -

Re: TSR MHoC General Election September 2012I'm not asking what Hague thinks. I'm asking what you think and most of your answer doesn't really get to the heart of my question.(Original post by Morgsie)

From Porn Bill 2012 by the Socialist Party. Do not vote for this backward out of touch party vote for internetguru!
'2 Criminal offence
(1) It is a criminal offence to sell pornography, or to solicit or facilitate the sale of pornography, or to sell access to pornography, or to derive profit from allowing access to pornography.
(a) Committing such an offence will be punished with a fine of £50 for an individual, or £300 if perpetrated by an organisation.
(b) The fine will be charged for each violation of this rule, for each single piece of pornography involved.' -
Re: TSR MHoC General Election September 2012Thank-you.(Original post by ukip72)
OK thanks, A very impressive manifesto btw.
Admittedly the lowest earners have been greatly helped by the increase in the income tax threshold from your own bill which we fully supported however we do not believe that we should be complacent and nobody should be penalized for their success.(Original post by jesusandtequila)
Considering we've already abolished income tax or around 40% of earners, what the Conservatives propose is abolishing income tax for those with incomes along the scale from 40% to 75%, not to help the poorest 40%, right guys?
