And where do the Lib Dems suppose that the money will come from for these ideas?
Investing in infrastructure like homes, broadband and the Railways will help the economy grow

I think this is the MHoC's first ever interactive manifesto.

Feel like asking some questions so thought I'd start with you...

Firstly, I'd like to say you misunderstand the word "free". You propose to make all university education free, but all you are doing is subsidizing it with someone else's money. There's no such thing as a free lunch after all.

So answer me this: How can you justify asking people like cleaners, teachers and office workers to pay for the degrees of bankers, doctors and lawyers? How can you ask the working classes to subsidize the doctorates of middle class professionals?

Education is ever so important, but higher education is a tool which grants a many number of people a great economic advantage - isn't it fair that they give back to society by paying for it themselves rather than asking those who do not benefit from it to pick up the bill?

Tories: Would you campaign on either side in your proposed EU referendum?
Yes, members will campaign on either side however the majority will likely vote to leave.

    (Original post by TopHat)
We achieved the majority of our manifesto and submitted more material than any other party. Meanwhile, your record is ah, rather worse, to put it lightly.
The government submitted more material with an equal number of seats.

    (Original post by internetguru)
I can only think of about two members of their party that oppose leaving the EU so it will be very one sided.
Three sitting MP's and likely a similar proportion of the wider membership.

The Government is two parties, though, and has the advantage of being able to co-operate via the government forum. This can often boost activity compared to a single-party, hence why I only included single parties.

Considering we've already abolished income tax or around 40% of earners, what the Conservatives propose is abolishing income tax for those with incomes along the scale from 40% to 75%, not to help the poorest 40%, right guys? :moon:

Where does the money come from for this investment?
A progressive fairer tax system and reducing unnecessary wasteful spending

Tories: Would you campaign on either side in your proposed EU referendum?
We have agreed within the party that all members will be free to support whatever side of the campaign they want. This worked very well for us in the monarchy referendum, and we're sure it will again. In that one, half of us supported keeping the monarchy (such as myself) and the other half support getting rid of it. The side I was on won.

With Europe, there are some pro-EU members in our party, but then other members who are staunchly anti-EU - like myself. I quite like this set up as it means a whole range of interests are taken into consideration, and really it allows us to conduct the referendum in a way entirely free of bias. I shall however be supporting the OUT campaign once the referendum is put to the people.

That's what is important for all of us, whilst some are pro-EU, they still believe the people deserve a choice over something so integral to the political nature of this country.

Ok let's continue on this track then (no pun intended) for a while. What wasteful spending would you like to see curbed?

What are those reforms then? You see I always find it rather baffling when europhiles state the above. It's so woolly, so vague and doesn't say much. Would reforms involve us handing over any more powers and while we are here, why should the EU have any powers when all powers should belong solely in the hands of sovereign states?

I'm not asking what Hague thinks. I'm asking what you think and most of your answer doesn't really get to the heart of my question.

Admittedly the lowest earners have been greatly helped by the increase in the income tax threshold from your own bill which we fully supported however we do not believe that we should be complacent and nobody should be penalized for their success.
