How long does milk keep after the use-by date?
I drank some hot chocolate made with hot milk, and I've just realised that it's use-by date was 11th September. I didn't notice anything off about the taste or the smell of my drink and when I smelled the milk in the carton it didn't smell off. I hate the smell of milk anyway but it didn't seem foul.
It's been refrigerated since we got it so if it doesn't smell bad or have chunks in it does that mean I'll be okay? -
Re: How long does milk keep after the use-by date?
I never let my milk get to that stage but seeing as you've already drank it, just see what happens - if you get the ****s you get the ****s, nothing you can do about it, just embrace the imminent brown explosion.
Just don't let it get to the use-by-date next time. simples. -
Re: How long does milk keep after the use-by date?
As already been said the use by/best before dates are just a rough estimate to cover the producers back, a lot of the time the produce will be good past them but I like to stick to them anyway just to make sure and dont risk it with potentially dodgy food. Theres also a difference between best before and use by too as im sure youre aware.
Whenever I buy milk it rarely makes it to its use by date but if it smells OK and tastes OK then you should be fine, with milk you can definitely tell if its gone bad. At uni I also have a problem with bread lasting
