Manchester Utd v Galatasary, 19/09/12, 7:45pm Sky
Well, exactly what it says in the title, really.
BBC preview of the match.
I don't know much about Galatasaray, or how they'll line up. Utd will most likely employ a 4-4-1-1/4-3-3, with Kagawa playing behind RVP, and we'll probabaly see Welbeck deployed on the left, again.

I am hoping that by saying Danny will start on the left that Fergie will prove me wrong. I know he reads the TSR footie forum.
I came across an official UEFA match-pack earlier....Last edited by Kevmeister; 19-09-2012 at 15:01. -

I'm excited about going toe-to-toe with Gala again after ages, likewise had we been drawn with Juventus. A nostalgic glance back to old times...

Looking at that match pack, a few familiar names - Baros, Altintop, Riera. Shouldn't cause us too much problems but we need to be efficient and non-complacent to get the job done. -
Re: Manchester Utd v Galatasary, 19/09/12, 7:45pm Sky
I'm going for a comfortable 3-0 win for United. Welbeck perhaps getting on the score sheet.
We wont want to risk our best players for too long against some crazy Turks. I think the game on the weekend will be in SAF's head.
I'd like to see De Gea return into goal and would also very much like to see Buttner start. On top of that, I think tonight would be a good test for Powell. We should leave Scholes, Giggs and RVP out of it in my opinion...
Maybe give Rooney a 30 minute run? -

^That's where we went wrong last season at home. Have to play a chunk of experience, get the job done first then bring on Powell and other squad members. Powell scored a cracking goal and had surprisingly, high praise from SAF, but doesn't justify a start in a CL tie, the first one of the season at home. He'll get enough gametime in the CL etc. I'd play Evra just for him to get some match fitness after a short spell out and bring on Buttner late on.

Can't see anything but a Man Utd win here! You might have been disappointing last year in CL but Fergie will want to make sure it doesn't happen again! Hopefully a good game for the neutral as well!
Hearing rumours there will be trouble at the game with Man Utd, Leeds & Galatasary fans - Hope not! -
Re: Manchester Utd v Galatasary, 19/09/12, 7:45pm SkyI agree!! Would be gr8 to see that partnership.(Original post by Whitechapel)
Want to see RVP+Chica together -
Re: Manchester Utd v Galatasary, 19/09/12, 7:45pm SkyI think we should go with a combination of experience and youth.(Original post by Aky786UK)

We can't panic, we must not let what happened last year scare us. I think a home game against Galatasaray is a relatively easy fixture. There's no point in starting RVP, Rooney, Kagawa and Scholes. Scholes and Giggs deserve a rest, I suspect we will need Scholes against Liverpool. Furthermore, we need to protect the other three. We can't have them getting injured.
Also, we need to give the youngsters 'big match experience'. How will they ever learn if we just give them 10 minutes here, 10 minutes there..
Had it have been an away game, I'd be all for selecting Kagawa, RVP and Rooney.
Main priority: Liverpool on the weekend.
Secondary: Beating Galatasary.Last edited by Manchester United; 19-09-2012 at 18:13. -
Re: Manchester Utd v Galatasary, 19/09/12, 7:45pm SkyRVP/Kagawa should start, they didn't start on Saturday and the former got a brief run out in preparation for tonight. I can see Scholes rested and maybe Giggs come in.(Original post by Manchester United)

At this point in time, I'd say both were just as important priorities for me. Firstly due to the disappointment of not winning the league last year and secondly because we crashed out at the group stages last year. It's just about, like you said, applying combinations to make sure we get the right result. -
Re: Manchester Utd v Galatasary, 19/09/12, 7:45pm Sky
Hoping its a full-strength side and we have learned from last year - I think we went out early last year due to a mixture of inexperience and ****ing about with the line ups. The home games in the CL are must-win otherwise you're living yourself with a tough task on the road.

MUFC XI: De Gea; Rafael Evans Vidic Evra; Valencia Carrick Scholes Nani Kagawa; Van Persie
Ah well, SAF has opted for a strong line up. We should be able to smash them in that case. I just pray for no injuries. Please!!! -
Re: Manchester Utd v Galatasary, 19/09/12, 7:45pm SkyYou seem disappointed with the line-up. Love this team, possibly out strongest right now. Good to see after the shambles of last year. With Liverpool on the weekend, can Scholes manage 3 games in a week though? Feeling confident about tonight.(Original post by Manchester United)
