More Mohammed Cartoons this time from France
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/wo...s-8156668.html
The cartoons, published in the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, hit newsstands today and France is bracing for a hostile reaction.
There are concerns that the magazine may further anger Muslims, already outraged over an anti-Islamic film.
Demonstrations against the 'Innocence of Muslims' film have already claimed at least 30 lives in more than 20 countries.
The cartoon published in the magazine plays off the US-produced film which portrays the prophet as a fraud, a womaniser and a child molester.
It really is a shame our satirists and comedians are to cowered to take this issue on and for a change I must say good on the French for not bending over for islamist demands
We have a great history of mocking faith and power but we seem to be letting the ball slip when it comes to the religion of peace.
But OMG they kicked off over a shoddy film imagine the Pavlovian reaction when they see him ‘tackle out’
I’m just getting my popcorn ready as this really should be fun

Re: More Mohammed Cartoons this time from FranceFreedom of expression doesn't mean you can be a dick about other people's cultures and expect them not to get angry about it.(Original post by A Mysterious Lord)

Re: More Mohammed Cartoons this time from FranceFrom the article(Original post by Templar49)
Because they're purposedly trying to incense Muslims. Of course, their reactions to the video were obscene, but why try to annoy a group of people as much as possible and then moan about the results?
You do know muslims are not forced to look at these images don't you?One of the cartoonists, who uses the name Tignous, today defended the drawings.
"It's just a drawing," he said. "It's not a provocation."

Re: More Mohammed Cartoons this time from FranceSo that still doesn't excuse violence, especially murder, and especially action towards people who have had nothing to do whatsoever with these incidents.(Original post by Templar49)

Re: More Mohammed Cartoons this time from France
Had a quick look
Generally, drawings should be one of those 'you should be allowed but you shouldn't do it anyway' situations.... Assuming the purpose is to not be hostile or something... Though, there shouldn't be anything wrong with drawing a prophet it is done with good intentions...
If you're purposely offending, then that's a different thing and it's just being dickish...which I think they may have been given the naked picsLast edited by Dmon1Unlimited; 19-09-2012 at 16:49. -
Re: More Mohammed Cartoons this time from FranceHow is mocking one's chosen religion being racist?(Original post by Janjua)
By being openly racist and offensive to other faiths and people. So much for the 'freedom of speech' -
Re: More Mohammed Cartoons this time from France
While they have the freedom to publish these images, doesn't make it prudent. This seems like it was purposely published to incite violence and hatred. Although there shouldn't be violence over this, people need to grow thicker skins and shrug this off.

Re: More Mohammed Cartoons this time from FranceI suppose they find it amusing.(Original post by sucess)
why provoke them -
Re: More Mohammed Cartoons this time from France
Muslims in this country so far haven't created a bitchfest over the video, so in the interests of mutual respect British papers should refrain from publishing the cartoons.
I would encourage mocking of whoever if it were a matter of cowardice, but if it's not, then the grown up thing to do is just ignore all this nonsense. We don't need to be a part of it. -
Re: More Mohammed Cartoons this time from France
Funnily enough, in the same week that people are heralding people like Nakoula as a martyr for freedom of speech, Azhar Ahmad, the young man who criticised British soldiers on Facebook, has been charged and is going to prison. This just reinforces my opinion that there is not and cannot be total freedom of speech. There is always a limit; you can't just provoke someone under the now-meaningless slogan of "freedom of speech" and not expect a backlash of some sort.
