Archaeology degree??

Hey all

Well ive started my AS's and im trying to finally decide what degree i want to do.

Ive always liked History, but i was never that certain about a degree in it because i actually want a career in the history feild.
It seems like a lot of people taking history dont actually work for museums, or do archaeology in the field.

I was wondering if any of you have experience of this??
I would love to work as an archaeologist for a few years after uni, and then maybe work for a museum or archive- looking after finds and restoring artifacts
What degree would be the best way to achieve this??

I am also intrested in an environmental science degree and at the moment im focusing on some of Bangor's courses.

thanks in advance
One example of a degree course that combines both Archaeology & Heritage Studies : http://www.worcester.ac.uk/journey/archaeology-and-heritage-studies-ba-hons.html
