Aerospace/aeronautical
Hi all,
I'm currently on a Access course with view to gaining a place in uni starting September 2013.
Not many universities accept Access so my options are limited.
Does anyone know the average number of applicants per place for Aerospace and how difficult it is to get an offer?? -
Re: Aerospace/aeronauticalyes you will be slighty disadvantaged because you wouldnt have studied Physics and Maths at A-level. Thats why they offer foundation years to prepare everyone for the actual degree(Original post by mac9)
Are Access applicants disadvantaged in any way compared to an A level applicant?
(including applicant who did A-levels but in the wrong courses that would permit direct entry to engineering)

Re: Aerospace/aeronauticaldo you even know what an access course is, you're not even at uni(Original post by a10)
yes you will be slight disadvantaged because you wouldnt have studied Physics and Maths at A-level. Thats why they offer foundation years to prepare everyone for the actual degree

Re: Aerospace/aeronauticalisnt an access course to get you into the engineering field but with other qualifications? (like btecs etc)(Original post by sucess)
do you even know what an access course is, you're not even at uni -
Re: Aerospace/aeronauticalmeaning they teach you all the physics and maths needed plus you dont need any other qualification(Original post by a10)
isnt an access course to get you into the engineering field but with other qualifications? (like btecs etc) -
Re: Aerospace/aeronauticalOkay. But usually people who did access courses are asked to do the foundation year?(Original post by sucess)
meaning they teach you all the physics and maths needed plus you dont need any other qualification -
Re: Aerospace/aeronauticalcan you prove this(Original post by a10)
Okay. But usually people who did access courses are asked to do the foundation year?
an access course is the same as a foundation course -
Re: Aerospace/aeronauticalAccess students will be allowed entry into first year of the course, just like any BTEC or A-level. The only difference is some places may not accept entry for the MEng, just like the BTEC.(Original post by a10)

Re: Aerospace/aeronauticalIt's 6 applicants per place(Original post by mac9)

I got this from a UCAS document which I downloaded. Can't seem to find the link to it though

Re: Aerospace/aeronauticalthanks!!! How do you put the spolier thing(and your logo)(Original post by bestofyou)
If you go to the homepage, the toolbar below the one with "Forums, Articles, Revision Help etc", there is a like for 'Pictures and Files'. Just click over that and it should expand and then click on 'Edit Avatar'
You can upload your own or use one of the TSR ones.Last edited by a10; 26-09-2012 at 19:11. -
Re: Aerospace/aeronauticalsame as before except click on 'settings' instead of 'photos and files' and then go down to 'edit signature'. As for putting pictures in that, it is there with all the fonts styles, sizes etc above the box you do the typing in.(Original post by a10)
thanks!!! How do you put the spolier thing(and your logo)
And spoiler tags are: [spoilerr] then put whatever you want inside the spoiler between the spoiler tags [/spoilerr]
I had to spell 'spoiler' incorrectly so you could see what I did, obviously you just spell it correctly and it will work
