    Aerospace/aeronautical
    Hi all,

I'm currently on a Access course with view to gaining a place in uni starting September 2013.

Not many universities accept Access so my options are limited.

Does anyone know the average number of applicants per place for Aerospace and how difficult it is to get an offer??

Are Access applicants disadvantaged in any way compared to an A level applicant?

yes you will be slighty disadvantaged because you wouldnt have studied Physics and Maths at A-level. Thats why they offer foundation years to prepare everyone for the actual degree (including applicant who did A-levels but in the wrong courses that would permit direct entry to engineering)

isnt an access course to get you into the engineering field but with other qualifications? (like btecs etc)

Access is an A level equivalent but condensed into one year.

Okay. But usually people who did access courses are asked to do the foundation year?

Access students will be allowed entry into first year of the course, just like any BTEC or A-level. The only difference is some places may not accept entry for the MEng, just like the BTEC.

    It's 6 applicants per place

I got this from a UCAS document which I downloaded. Can't seem to find the link to it though

If you go to the homepage, the toolbar below the one with "Forums, Articles, Revision Help etc", there is a like for 'Pictures and Files'. Just click over that and it should expand and then click on 'Edit Avatar'

You can upload your own or use one of the TSR ones.

same as before except click on 'settings' instead of 'photos and files' and then go down to 'edit signature'. As for putting pictures in that, it is there with all the fonts styles, sizes etc above the box you do the typing in.

And spoiler tags are: [spoilerr] then put whatever you want inside the spoiler between the spoiler tags [/spoilerr]

I had to spell 'spoiler' incorrectly so you could see what I did, obviously you just spell it correctly and it will work
