Falling in love :frown:

We don't live in the 17th century anymore.

We can make it work, Father. Let's go on a romantic run too.

My bags were packed for university but this offer sounds more appealing
At least the media wouldn't be on our tail

It is completely and utterly wrong, end of!!

The people saying that its "cute" don't understand that teaching and working in education with young people puts you in a position of trust where you have a responsibility to the children. She is still a child, he is an adult twice her age. She doesn't "love" him but most probably simply infatuated by him. I know this feeling all too well doing a pgce and not such a horrific looking bloke, many of the girls become obsessed. It is completely wrong to take advantage of a naive girl, even if she thinks she knows what she's doing.

Put him in chains for 20 years

You don't throw away your wife, your job and your whole life to go to France on a whim for some school girl. He probably fell for her, however wrong you might think that is. I think he let the situation get out of control, fell for her and then panicked and fled the country with her. She's 15, whilst technically still a child she is capable of thinking for herself.

I think they both lost control of the situation but seriously, when they do get caught - what good is locking him up going to do? Who is that going to help?

Obviously, I don't know the whole facts - I'm just passing judgement on what is being reported atm.
No idea why he would throw his career away like that; assume he will be going to jail upon his return! Doesn't matter whether the feelings are genuine or if she's -16 or +16 in my view; people in such positions of care/responsibility should act in a professional manner at all times.

Just to run away is crazy though!

The person I feel sorry for is the teacher's wife. It must be heartbreaking for her to know what he has done. As for the girl, did she not think about it?!
We had to write about a real life event as a story and this was what I chose... Its intriguing to get into her mind and try find out how could she be feeling.

At fifteen this must seem like a whirlwind romance and adventure.

why?

men are naturally attracted to girls that are like 13+

anyone that says he is a paedophile is an idiot.

It's sick because, although it's normal to be physically attracted to a physically mature girl, he should know that she's not mentally mature to make any decisions yet. It's disgusting because she's not nearly at his level of mental ability yet and he's probably not going to be able to hold any meaningful conversations with her, meaning that he's only with her for her body rather than for her personality. It's disgusting because she's too young to understand or believe anything I just said here due to her innocence. It's disgusting because he could be her father.

She knows exactly what she is doing. This isn't a case of 'grooming' I don't think.

I think you'd be surprised.

This is incredibly patronising to the 15 year old girl to be honest. 15 year olds can be mature, have meaningful conversations, and make their own decisions, you know! And lol at her being "too innocent" to understand your post...

I honestly cannot believe how many people think that this situation is anything less than terrible!

An adult has kidnapped a child and no one knows exactly where they are or what the adult is doing to the child. This alone is terrible enough, it gets a lot worse when you consider that the adult in question is a teacher - someone who most people would trust to look after their children at school, and definitely not do something like this.

The child needs to be returned to their parents, and the adult needs to be locked up in prison for quite a long time. I don't understand how anyone could think any different.

One of the most idiotic posts I have read on this forum in a while

Why is it idiotic? It's a question I've been wondering about for a while... :s-smilie:

Of course I haven't associated it with being attracted to younger people, but it is fairly strange that men prefer women who remove so many of their natural sexual characteristics

It might be patronising for her because she probably isn't an idiot but it's doesn't make my post any less true.

So you think all 15 year old girls are mentally immature, mentally less intelligent than adults, and too "innocent" to understand your simple post?

I find that rather odd.

You said: "It's disgusting because she's too young to understand or believe anything I just said here due to her innocence."

What exactly do you think is too difficult in your post for a 15 year old to understand?
I'd be so annoyed if my daughter left her whole family behind for a guy.

It's too difficult for a 15 year old to understand a person's real intentions or potential deceitfulness. Children in our society are sheltered until a very late age. She doesn't fully understand the consequences her actions could have. It doesn't have anything to do with cognitive ability at all.

Not to mention this is a period of her and every other teenage boy or girl's life where most of her decisions are based on hormonal and instinctual impulses rather than well thought out plans.

Edit: do you think the age of consent should be lowered?

Well why do some grown men prefer their wives/partners with shaved or waxed genitals, resembling that of a child? Hm...

Added a bit there for you.

What does this have to do with anything? Why does pretty much everyone prefer wives/partners with waxed/shaved legs and arm-pits (co-incidentally resembling that of a child) for pretty much similar reasons - nothing to do with attraction to children! Is it fine as long as its not a certain arbitrary part of the body?

There are many reasons to prefer it...

On the subject of the thread. I don't get it either... Have they actually broken any laws? If so, why all the attention. It doesn't look like it to me, as the police don't seem to have approached the French police to arrest the guy. If so, why is it even a matter for the police? She was missing, now she has been found. She has decided of her own free will to go do something - that’s it surely?

The fact that she can consent implies that she is at least partially responsible for certain actions that pertain the area between her legs. :colondollar:

Legally, she can't consent. Although in all honesty at 15 she has a brain and knows exactly what she is doing! I feel slightly sorry for the teacher seeing as he is the one who will land in a pile of sh*t whilst everyone treats her like a victim!

Don't teachers have an oath or some position of trust that he has to abide by? Isn't that why students (even sixthformers) can't add their teachers on fb?
And she is too young to go away without parental consent.
Hell Im seventeen and I can't go on a trip to London without a permission slip.

And anyway not everyone prefers naked genitals. Its just seen as more fashionable to keep your bat cave shrub free.
If all porn had big bushes I think they would come back in style.

And anyway its not like she won't have pubic hair. She's 15 not 10.

Yes.

The abuse of a position of trust is a criminal offence under the Sexual Offences Act 2003.

A person over the age of 18 who is in a position of trust over a person under the age of 18 commits a criminal offence if they involve the younger person in sexual activity. The offence first appeared in in sections 16-24 of the Sexual Offences (Amendments) Act 2000, which lists the following occupations to which the law applies:

Institutions looking after young people who are detained under a court order or enactment, such as a young offenders institution.
Accommodation provided by local authorities and voluntary organisations under statutory provision.
Hospitals, independent clinics, care homes, residential care homes, private hospitals, community homes, voluntary homes, children's homes and residential family centres.
Educational institutions.

We can assume that he has begun a sexual relationship with this girl. If not, I can only assume that there will be other areas of the law, in relation to this act, that he has broken.
